Need help with uneven window placement
Comments (6)@kiwi08, Very early days into the building, FIXIT, don't do this or that to make it work if you don't like it!!! For goodness sake, don't put up this when it's easy to change. Get floor to ceiling winows or take them out all together, after all if you're putting a tv there you don't need windows either side and I don't think you will be sitting on a window seat on either side of your tv. Do a book case if need be and have no windows , but change it and be happy. Cheers, Barbara...See MoreFurniture design and placement help please!
Comments (1)Hi, A good way to start is to draw a scaled floor plan of the space. When you see furniture that you like, you can then cut out; also to the same scale, the basic dimensions. This will make it easier to assess the foot traffic around the room and furniture layout. You may find a modular to big and limiting to layout. Maybe a sofa with 2 accent chairs (not necessarily matching) gives more possibilities. Also consider which direction the room is facing and what light it receives, this may also help with layout in terms of the TV, i.e will the sun shine making it hard to see the screen. Hope that helps....See MoreShed placement help
Comments (7)Most council areas require a building permit for a large 70sq,m shed. Something so large will take up a lot of your outdoor space. Consider the height of the shed, and the setbacks required from your boundaries. Consider how much shade the shed will cast, and how you plan to use the ground on the southern side of the shed. Finally consider your own outlook. Which windows will look at the side of the shed? Do you want the view from your living areas to be of the shed? What about the neighbours views? Are there any restrictions placed by the developer of the subdivsion on the size, materials, colours and location of sheds? You haven't provided enough information about the orientation, but you do need to chat with council about their requirements for setbacks. Once you have this information you should peg out the corners of your proposed shed on the ground to see how it relates to your house and outlook to help you reach agreement. By the way I agree, with you the shed should be a lot smaller. Your husband's proposed shed is about the size of two, double garages! Comments (2)Hi Hayley, Just to clarify that you are aware that you will need to do a bit of a garden reno in order for a strung up hammock NOT to look out of place? I mean, if you were to just install two posts and hang a hammock up anywhere in your yard without any other changes or installations it will look a bit odd. What you've said, a hammock and with a water feature, will look great but will need some styling around it to create a sort of nook space where you can hang out and relax - is that what you're wanting to achieve? If so, i'd suggest around the corner from the covered patio area, nearer the fence and use some screens around one or two sides to make it feel secluded, perhaps remove some of the lawn there and add paving. You could even put a small twinset table & chairs in the area if you want to sit and have a cuppa or a wine and enjoy the peace & quiet with a friend or partner? I see you have frangipanis and yukkas/dracenas on the other side. As a big budget saver, take some cuttings and continue the theme around your hammock chill zone. You could keep them potted if you wanted to move them around and the pots will give an element of layers to the space too. Pinterest hammock ideas Hope this and the Pinterest link help you :) Kind Regards, Carol...See MoreDiana Bier Interiors, LLC
