Your main issue here is going to be circulation space I think. It's difficult to tell the dimensions of the room and how big your lounge(s) are. So I would suggest draw a scaled down 2D overhead map. Shade all of the areas on the map where the doors need to open, where the island bench seats need to pull out to, where the heat from fire will burn you or the furniture and most of all, where people will need space to walk. The remaining unshaded space is where your lounges are allowed to go 　 I assume oriented towards that little TV mounted in the corner.

Hi Julia, the new pantry is only 30cm deep which going by Ramans measurement of 31cm it will fit beautifully, and a great depth for a pantry. I have already mentioned that he will need to remove the kick board at the rear and side of the new pantry so it fits and is flush into the corner. And yes with my old program I used a wall in place of a panel which I don't have but when you look at that in 3d the wall shows all the way to the ceiling which isn't what I intended. But you will notice that I have again explained that he will need to have a panel the same as the kitchen material to give it a built in look and won't expose the side of the fridge which faces the new pantry. Cost wise this is the best with maximum extra storage. Hopefully Raman can line the new pantry up with the top of the other cabinets keeping the Airconditioner where it is. The second floor plan is just something he might like to consider once he gets over the enormous effort of buying their new home as this will give even more storage. Adding two new 800cm x 30cm pantries with 40cm doors , this exact width to be confirmed and or adjusted by Raman once the fridge is fitted. This is very cost effective and will add that much needed extra storage and the doors will keep everything tidy and keep little hands accessing the pantries. Lots and LOTS of suggestions there! My idea is big, (and expensive), no tinkering with whats there but rethinking the use of the whole space. I think it would be great open the whole thing up by removing the laundry from current position, removing all the dividing walls and using all the space for longer kitchen and island, running parallel with the back wall. Extend the kitchen cupboards the length of the family room to include laundry-in-a-cupboard, then put the loo under the stairs off the living room, backing into the left hand end of the kitchen. The whole space would be open, with the kitchen a tiny bit further to the right (because of loo position). Big glass along the front, paint all those beams white, no timber interior wall, Gorgeous! Big job though! How game are you?

Which direction do those windows face? And is this mainly for cooling or for heating? (or both?) Keep in mind that sun coming in the windows will cause that part of the room to heat up, and when it's cold the spot near the windows will be the coldest part of the room. If the AC unit is on the long wall, you'll have limited air distribution through the room. However, it's not a big room so will probably be okay for the most part. Depends how you intend to use the space. Just be aware of the limitations of putting it in that spot.
