Ugg boots and a woolly hat. To heat a house to the standard of UK/Europe/USA in Australia is so expensive. I would like to know how colder overseas climates do it.
Speaking as an overheated American, we started with huge amounts of insulation, especially blown in stuff that fills in all the cracks. Then we use a propane furnace sparingly, because of expense, and a wood stove liberally.
Also in US...Have gas heat in a well-insulated/well-built condo apartment on the second floor...We keep the thermostat at 67 and this past winter, the cost was $30! Of course, we wear wool sweaters and socks and are not uncomfortably cold or warm.
