Need help with my living room

Hi,

I've recently moved to a house with an awkward living room and I'm finding it hard to pull together. The room is almost square, with a 22-foot high ceiling. We've put in a contemporary fire and and invested in the Stressless Space leather sofas we've wanted for years.

The fire is surrounded by windows, but the room doesn't get a lot of light. There are four can lights in the high ceiling, plus another 2 in the lower hallway ceiling behind the sofa. There's actually only one usable wall, as 2 open onto the kitchen and hallway.

How do I pull it together? I feel it needs a shot of colour as it's quite a dull room (especially at night). The walls are currently a greyish biege, the entire ground floor (which is open plan) is painted this colour. I was thinking maybe red or burnt orange cushions and drapes, and smaller rugs of the same colour under each sofa. Should I paint the walls and change the carpet? How do I fix the lighting? What should I do about the coffee table?

Thanks in advance!
