Advice on how to style/ lighten up this room.
Comments (14)Hi there. If your focus is on selling the home, you need to remove some of the furniture in this room. I would start by removing the desk. The armchairs should be placed apart from the lounge - probably where the desk is currently for one and the other on the other side of the TV (if there is room - it is hard to tell from the photos). This will give the room a more inviting feel. I would put a natural fibre cream floor rug under the lounge and across to the TV cabinet. Remove all of the small frames on the wall and opt for a large artwork on that wall - I would probably go for blues - navy through to demin through to duck egg for the artwork and accessories (cushions etc). Good luck!...See MoreHow do I cover up cut edge of tile on wall recess? Help!
Comments (5)Thanks for that link Lee. Not sure how I will go getting tile out - I was rather hoping for some kind of 'elbow' profile that I could silicone over the top and create a neat frame. I would if I could grind a channel where the tiles meet and retro-fit that metal trim? 'Me me' and 'Gallifrey' have metal edge too - I did not know that was an option. I certainly would have suggested that. Note to oneself - research before you get in a mess - not afterwards!...See MoreHow do I open up my kitchen?
Comments (24)Hi Jennifer, I concur with all the other comments here but please avoid all dead corners! Make one long stretch of cupboards along under the window and put cook top at dining end: it will be safer. Sink and DW doesn't matter at family room end. I would keep the oven tower with microwave on the other wall with the fridge, build in as large a pantry as you can there and have drawers everywhere. Outside I suggest a pergola with deciduous vine over it. It will allow sun thru in winter and beautiful green cool shade in summer. Tho having said that I do not know where you are. Maybe building pergola up from the raised garden bed, leaving room for planting underneath and vine over the structure will make area look larger. Always love to see the final results. Hope the bathroom is ok: better the water on the outside of the walls! Hah Cheers Margot...See MoreHow do we open up our kitchen to connect to the living area?
Comments (6)Agree with Kate. Walls are useful things. Do you use the sliding door out to the patio? Could this be bricked up, and the whole wall be dedicated to storage, fridge and oven. Plus an island for storage. Keeping sink in situ, due to cost of plumbing. Reduce the window size and install overhead cupboards either side. I would also install a window on the north side wall of lounge....See Morearmygirl1987
