What do other Houzzers think of my lounge room colour scheme?
Comments (82)Ok, don't like the dark cushion, don't like the TV in the bedroom. You could go for pendant lighting using the same 'material' as the mirror? If you went for larger beside lamps while you have that mirror there, they would be fighting each other. In the programs I watch, they say to have 'a hero in the room'. In this case the mirror is the hero I think. Also the extra throw cushion for the bed could match one on the chair, so it ties in (or don't have one at all on the bed). If you did need a TV what about having one installed on the wall to the right of the chair,(looking at the photo) and make sure it can swivel out, so when you aren't watching TV in bed it can be against the wall, out of the way. Then you can have a lovely (glass) ornament or two, or a bunch of flowers sitting on it along with your photos. I love how you have your bed dressed, spot on! (without the dark cushion) I absolutely adore the blue shades in the duvet cover and I would draw those out into the room. Love that you have opened up your windows in the lounge. Maybe a throw rug and some colourful (same colours as in the duvet cover on your bed) cushions on the lounge suite as nothing is really popping! There doesn't seem to be any colour except for the flowers and the photos. Colourful paintings on the wall would be lovely too. Maybe the potted plants could be in coloured (as in your duvet cover) pots instead of white. I know you weren't asking about the lounge and if you are happy with it, then that is all that matters. Well done....See MoreNeed help with my lounge
Comments (2)I suggest bridging the tonal gap between the black and white plus camel with a grey sheer. Actually not a sheer, no sheen perhaps a flocked cotton or linen, something with a fibre, I would consider stitching a black edge seam down the inside reveal of the sheer so they have some interest and relate to your soft furnishings. A with a bookcase, a bedroom ISA great place for one, infact I don't think there's any room that doesn't benefit from some form of bookcase, Layer your timber accents with frames or lamp bases, even book ends in the case, so there is. More than two different, rather a timber theme with varying shades can be appreciated....See MoreColour for new lounge suite? Please help!
Comments (7)I would suggest that you have a serious think about what you use that area for the most. Is it sitting in front of the fire, watching the TV for hours on end, or sitting chatting to friends and family??? Depending on what you do the most will help you decide on the style. I think the graphite colour would bring out the colour of the stones in the fireplace surround. Do you think all the cushions and rolled backs on your white lounge in addition to the white and cream together is putting you off too? Maybe a low backed lounge would be better, if you are just chilling in that area. You have plenty of light coming into the room, so do not worry about using darker lounge colour, although I think the black would be too much. My husband and I must have sat on every available lounge in Brisbane before we decided on one that felt comfortable. It took us a while, but got there in the end. Cheers, loken....See MoreBlack or Brown lounge for this room?
Comments (15)Have a look at this brand, they have great warranties, are comfortable, you're sure to find something you both like here. Ask for a sale price, and whether it's returnable. Do the butt test (sit), check under the cushions for construction. my first hubby was 6,4", we had classic style sofas, one light green, one patterned, not the squishy kind. As long as you look for the high back. Measure him from back of his rear to his knee. That's the seat depth you want. Tall guys get sore backs, so look for good back support. http://www.kingliving.com.au/sofas-modulars-and-armchairs/#mhoChXfmgy3DHsFH.97 Above all, take your room measurements with you everywhere....See Moremissmetis
