Do you have any pictures? What do you consider your style? If you don't have pics what pictures capture what you are after? I was deciding myself between tile and glass and now considering mirror to bring in extra light. I've seen mirror a lot lately used as splashback even smoked or black mirror, so really depends on how you see warm modern as a style
If it helps, you can even attach a photo even using the mobile apps. If the kitchen is predominantly white and warm timber tones, a white marble splashback, or white-painted glass would go well. More ideas here: http://www.houzz.com/au/warm-contemporary-kitchen
When i Googled warm modern i saw lots of wooden kitchens so if that is what you have, I would recommend a plain white tiled splashback. BUt it also depends on what other shades you have on your cabinets. many people seem to be combining wood with black nowadays.
I really like subway tiles as a splashback option. But I fear they will age quickly... I think a more classic style of tile or even glass is a more timeless option.
Why don't you guys take some ideas from our website? We have some kitchen designs that might interest you, specially the Diesel designer kitchen, with stainless steel splash back panels.
