Any of those colors will work. Use rugs to break up the large orange color in the floor. What other colors will you have in the room? Window treatments, bedding?

Windows are sliding doors which I have yet to dress. I want drapes, maybe in a deep gold shade. I have a large painting with a lot of red in it, and my doing cover is white with red markings. Was thinking of a slightly oriental style rug with a bit of gold and red too

Any blue looks good with orangey woods.

Put a green rug then paint the walls light grey

Oops! Missed the comment about your colours. I think you will need a large patterned rug that incorporates your current reds and blues or golds. Then my colour suggestions might work (depending on the rug colours).

I've had this issue with cypress pine floors - very yellow. Found double or triple strength Dulux Lexicon (white with a hint of black tint ) works well as doesnt throw any yellow, pink or blue hues which would be accentuated by the orangey floor reflection. Also Taubmans have a great range of taupey- stone neutral colours that look great too lighter the better. Might be boringish but that way accessories like linen are the feature rather than colours that date because of the floor combo :)

Please consider your aspect and the amount of sun and light your room gets. This makes an enormous difference to the end result of the room, do you want your room to look warm or cool? A lot of reds are going to give the room a warm look, as will the gold drapes but for a cooler look you could bring in white walls. However, you will need to be careful of the shade of red you choose, it could bring out the orange in the flooring as could the gold drapes. If you want something modern and contemporary red/black and white can be a nice fresh colour scheme. The room looks very large so the walls could be painted red for impact or just do the wall behind the bed and the rest of the walls white for a fresh look. Black could also be used as a feature wall behind the bed. A few ideas -

I think it's a fairly light room, as it has slightly doors at the other end which lead to a large courtyard, but I haven't moved in yet so a little unsure of the amount of sun that comes in. Overall, I prefer a warmer look. I do love red, especially as an accent colour. Thanks so much for all the very helpful suggestions everyone

It is usually best to give things a bit of time to live in the room and get the feel for things. I made the mistake many years ago of painting rooms for the look I wanted before we moved into the house only to discover the rooms were either too hot, too cold or too dull. Love the sound of the courtyard opening off it. In that respect, I would bring some greens into the room and use some florals in a rug or artwork to bring the outdoors in and blend the two spaces.

Surprised at how much I like the Contemporary Bedroom as I usually go for more Traditional. Good luck with it. It looks like a beautiful room even as is.

Hi , I think if you use a wall colour like half strength hog bristle, or similar tones. it works well with the timber floors. then you can ad other colours like black, electric blue, red, into the furniture around the bed and onto the bed.
