Love your table. Nice to see the parquetry top mimics the diagonal tile too, but to Make your tile more relevant and up to date, scrape out your grout and re do it in a dark grey grout to really accent the pattern, and then look for a fabric that looks the same, an off white linen with a grey lattice pattern will look provincial, French, and still current as the geometric reference is still big, either style. Don't replace those chairs, they are a lovely set, just tie them into the kitchen.
I can see you have had someone handy around, maybe consider doing a lining board dado rail around you dining room like your bar back and paint it in keeping with your kitchen. It will integrate these two spaces and add some timber in the kitchen, like an oversized timber chopping board or fruit bowl, to soften the harshness of black and white.

Ooohhh, just saw your windows, buy extra chair fabric an hang upholstered window pelmets in the dining room, easy to make from mdf, some wadding, and a staple gun. Angle brackets attach to the architrave very easy and like a pro decorator came in and finished the space.

Any way you can bring that gorgeous timber dresser into the dining room aswell? It goes well with that table, I see it in what looks like your lounge, swap it with your dining hall stand and hang your photos in a cluster above your tv, like a gallery, maybe a mirror or print in your dining for conversation.

I like to mix it up too and I think an eclectic mix creates an interesting and inviting home. By bringing different style eras together you get a result which feels like it evolved with you. For your table I would do something like these chairs - the black Xavier Pauchard replica chair brings a retro look to bridge the timeline between the table and kitchen, brings some kitchen colour to the table. The tongue & groove of the kitchen panels lends a bit of a rustic and the powder coat metal works with rustic, provincial, industrial, country or contemporary. Hi Sam - I can see your dilemma! This table and chairs is beautiful, no question. However to fit in with your current style, I think that the chairs should be swapped out with replica Philippe Stark Ghost Chair (the elegant design will suit your table's era beautifully) as suggested by tindzign - but in black or white or in a combination e.g. 2 end black chairs and 4 side white chairs. The current chairs are too ornate and too high and are much too pink - The one thing to remember is, the chairs must be comfortable - as you will be sitting quite a lot at that beautiful table! Wow THANKYOU everybody!!! :)Everyone has had really great feed back that has helped!! I've had tables and chairs on my mind constantly lol The table is not yet ours, it is on ebay. I was not fussed on the chairs at all - but really loved the table. Chairs def need to be comfortable - No 1 on my husbands list :) ...mmm I don't think i will purchase the table :( Think i will keep searching...i write this and think am i mad ;) I really need a interior designer on my wave length lol to put the whole vision together for me (need counter stools, new lounge plus occasional chairs, getting custom cabinets for tv, need some mirrors and artwork and pics up...so folks as you can see the table is the start and as much as i love it it may be to antique for what i have ;( . Was hopping to make it work with a contemporary chair (not fabric, have small children, and not to high) the metal doesnt really appeal (and apparently doesn't tick the comfort box ;) The auction on ebay has 2 days left if anyone thinks they have a late entry idea lol.... one last thing... i have this feeling that black needs to be somewhere in the chairs or maybe even the pedestal part of the table??

Hi Sam, I know where you're coming from, I too wanted to buy such a beautiful ornate table for my new home still under construction but it just wasn't going to look like it matched the modern home I wanted to put it in.
I also wanted to feel like it could be used as most kitchen tables in a home are used, especially for me living on a farm, for eating or repairing something on some newspaper etc...impossible to do on such a beautiful table, you would ruin it to see it scratched !!!
Not to put a damper on your tastes but your home will look so much better and have more style if you continue to try to match what you already have and that's at least a stunning kitchen that you've shown us all on this forum.
If you think of the style and colour of your kitchen everytime you want to buy something or decorate, it will hep ground you to keep it similar.
I understand there are people who say it's nice to have countless pieces of furniture that are all different in some way, as it can look like you acquired them along your journey in life but I think that this mixture of designs and colours doesn't gel in a modrrn house very well at all, perhaps a quaint old cottage but not a modern home with a lovely kitchen like you already have!!!
