Wow thanks Joseph. Yes I'm in Australia Victoria. I can get the mix just down the road from home. I have researched a bit and found that using malumine as the bottom of the mold is best but I have not heard of the vasoline and plastic but am definitely looking forward to a glass smooth surface. Is the flat sheet plastic something you would use as a garden liner to stop weeds from growing through? Just something you get from your local hardware store? I'm assuming that this is what the malumine would be used for I'm not sure. Thanks so much for the hot tips but I have my own hair dryer cause I'm the wife ha ha. I really appreciate your time. Out of the 3, I like White Star. Does it seem to have a pale green to it? I hope so, it would be a fresh look. I would put a radius on the end of the peninsula, if there is room to pass. I'd hide the garbage can, get a new eye- catching faucet and larger sink. I know the dish towels are just drying, but I wouldn't cover up your nice stainless ovens. Perhaps relocate the wall phone to a small counter phone. A roman shade in a light cotton or linen,mounted right under the crown molding would look great and cover the solar shade. Declutter the countertops, limiting the items to a coffee maker and perhaps 2 other items. I think it will look like a new kitchen! Post pictures after, please!

Thanks everyone! We will live it with now. @ cloudpants and suzineedsahouse - The ideas about putting something on the bench to distract the eye is a good idea. Maybe a nice plant? @ Elements at Home - That's an awesome idea. One big door on heavy duty hinges. We'll use the drawers mostly, so we won't be opening and closing them often. I'll definitely investigate that option further. @ dohraine - Only one drawing out of the 60 or so drawings showed the position of the taps in correlation to the doors. But, on paper the difference really wasn't that noticeable. The bench is Caesarstone. The pictures are a week or two old so the filing is all complete now (or it should be, I haven't seen photos of the interior in a while). I'm not sure just replacing the Caesarstone and sinks is a viable option.

Kate - Whilst I appreciate moving the door would be a great idea, it joins up to our laundry and the door is directly across from the laundry external door that leads to the side garden. I will take photos to show what I mean. Juliahocking - thank you for your suggestions. I am inspired by adding in cupboards/pantry on the opposite wall. Regarding flipping the kitchen 45 degrees, I have added measurements to clarify the space, and if I understand you correctly, there isn't enough room to flip the u-shape (although it is a great idea). I have added another (old) picture that shows the entry door, and next to the entry door is a sideboard/side shelf - this is where our butchers block/island is situated - so gives you an idea of the limited space.
