This room has taken time and the labour of so many houzzers I am truly impressed , Congrats everyone a job well done. Now for me, WHAT GIVES, have you moved to a ranch. If I had that table my kids would be half way to Tipperary by now. There used to be a store in N.S.W. called "Country Living" it would have been the perfect store for you, sorry I digress. I think you should lighten all of your colours starting with that rug too bitty for words.The couch is 70's and I don't want to mention the curtains. Choose COLOUR of a lighter nature and you will feel like a new person.

2] The DARK DARK shelves etc. can be stressed and differently placed. A big wall calls for a BIG BEAUTIFUL PAINTING.

3] Is that a decoration we see before us? down it comes and do fill in your alcove with maybe glass cabinets for your future trinkets from far flung lands. Now that I'v upset you and will probably be tarred and feathered I hope I will survive until I see the fabulous end result. I have no doubt you can do it. " You came onto the site" did'nt you?. You know what I would do . . . go back to your original layout, and simply paint the ceiling a colour close to your wall colour. If you can move the book shelf in the nook and replace it with white (or maybe black as you don't have any white anywhere) shelving to fit into that area. If not, move the bookshelf to the left and place a lovely big green plant with a pot using a colour from the rug. Or you could place the cabinet that is beside the TV, to the left of the bookshelf. I also like the idea of raising the TV off the low cabinet as you have the wall height and space. Also I would centre the TV cabinet and the TV on that wall. Maybe add a lovely big plant in that corner instead of the smaller cabinet.

If you don't need privacy in the room, why not have the cerise curtains pulled to the side and close them in the evening. I'm a great one for natural lighting so loathe curtains etc across the windows if unnecessary during the day.

Fortunately nothing is set in concrete so it is only a bit of manpower to move things around.

As I've been getting a number of new comments of late I decided to provide an update on my lounge room. New curtains, new rug, new cushions and new cabinetry and I've taken out the ottoman to open things up. I've also decided to make the wall around/above the TV area a photo wall but am still in the process of framing so there are only a few photos on this wall at the moment. Happy to get some feedback from other Houzzers on the changes....:)

Mmmm, you really do need a coffee table in the middle of the lounge suite. Where do people place their drinks, books etc. Don't understand why you placed the two seater couch next to the TV, however I like the two cabinets together though I feel they should be centered in that space. And I can't see the rug?

I do like that you are trying different placements with everything!

Put the colourful rug back, unless you're sick of it.

Nice changes..I would only add to put a solitary colorful pillow on the sofa and lower the photo/pictures by the drapes. Hang them at eye level.

Yes it has taken a lot of trial and error to get to this stage with my lounge room....now I must start on my bedroom.... I only hope it doesn't take me as long as the lounge room did. I'll attach some photos to get some feedback on where to go with my bedroom. I've already had a bit of a play with
what I already have but need others opinions on what I've done so far as I feel it's a bit of a mix-up at the moment with no real style. I have
already decided to paint the bedroom in lexicon half (same as the
lounge) but can't decide if the bedside lamps I've got actually go with the rustic bedside
tables and the large feature over the bedhead. Should I change the
bedside lamps; get rid of the feature over the bedhead? Any feedback is
helpful so please feel free....

Wow I'm impressed you are brave enough to come back after some of the comments. Glad you have the loung room that you love. You have a beautiful view out your bedroom window. I would be tempted to mount tv to the side or remove it

Ok, don't like the dark cushion, don't like the TV in the bedroom. You could go for pendant lighting using the same 'material' as the mirror? If you went for larger beside lamps while you have that mirror there, they would be fighting each other. In the programs I watch, they say to have 'a hero in the room'. In this case the mirror is the hero I think. Also the extra throw cushion for the bed could match one on the chair, so it ties in (or don't have one at all on the bed). If you did need a TV what about having one installed on the wall to the right of the chair,(looking at the photo) and make sure it can swivel out, so when you aren't watching TV in bed it can be against the wall, out of the way. Then you can have a lovely (glass) ornament or two, or a bunch of flowers sitting on it along with your photos. I love how you have your bed dressed, spot on! (without the dark cushion) I absolutely adore the blue shades in the duvet cover and I would draw those out into the room.

Love that you have opened up your windows in the lounge. Maybe a throw rug and some colourful (same colours as in the duvet cover on your bed) cushions on the lounge suite as nothing is really popping! There doesn't seem to be any colour except for the flowers and the photos. Colourful paintings on the wall would be lovely too. Maybe the potted plants could be in coloured (as in your duvet cover) pots instead of white. I know you weren't asking about the lounge and if you are happy with it, then that is all that matters. Well done.

Georgia Kay I used Lexicon half from Dulux as the paint in the lounge room. I was going to use it in the bedroom too but have since decided to go bold in the bedroom with Signature from Dulux - a gorgeous grey I found today. I know that most people wouldn't go that dark in a bedroom but I have previously had my bedroom in a dark navy blue and loved it so am going down the dark path again. Will post more photos when I've finished painting
