Need help for dining room table
Comments (1)Hi. There's no reason you can't change the legs. Look underneath to see how they are attached - usually there will be brackets and bolts - once these are off you can replace with anything. I would suggest you speak to a company such as Le Forge, in Camperdown, Sydney. They have a huge range and could suggest the correct base. Just remember to make sure the new base is the right size to properly supports the table....See MoreWhich room for what and layout help for dining and living rooms
Comments (20)Two years later... We ended up purchasing a 3-seater for wall opposite fireplace, a 2-seater for under the highlight window (leaves a comfortable space to enter the room) and an armchair placed diagonally opposite the couches. I've fooled the advice to pull the furniture in off the walls a little. We have just updated the fireplace with the (professional) installation of an insert wood heater and (DIY) replacement of hearth and tiles/timber mantel to conceal the brick while meeting the safety specifications of the heater (required a much wider/deeper hearth than the existing brick one so we removed and replaced with a slab of honed granite, and the minimum height for breastplate/mantel shelf posed a few design limitations). TV mounted above fireplace to allow for better furniture placement. Not quite the picture I had settled on 2 years ago, but works with the style of updates we have made elsewhere. Thank you for all the advice. before: After:...See Moredining room styling advice
Comments (8)I would get rid of furniture with thin steel legs. In a room with a large expanse of hard flooring, those little legs end up looking like a canteen more than a dining room. You need something with a bit of presence to take the attention away from the big tiles. They are not a feature tile so they need to recede into the background and let the furniture shine. You see how the upholstered chairs and thicker legs on this table make what is really a very austere space come to life. Get yourself a nice pendant and in that room I would actually build some open shelving across the back wall with a contrast wall colour behind it. You can then install some discreet LED downlights in the nooks for a stunning effect at night. With the heater staying where it is you definately need something large, high and eye catching to draw the eye there and to the table setting rather than to the heater....See MoreHelp style my new living and dining room please
Comments (12)I actually think the rug you have is a great start , but I actually think you need to look at the bigger picture , and formulate a plan . The end of the kitchen bench looks beige . Beige , of course , is bad haha , and doesn't go with grey . And you have a lot of grey ! Grey kitchen cupboards , grey walls , grey ceilings , grey doors and windows , and in the styled pics -- grey furniture . Call it surfmist , or drab , or overcast , or any of the other 50 shades haha , and its still grey . And to really add to this scene are those 70's tiles . The veranda roof underside looks unpainted or beige , the fence is an off-white . Me -- I'd do the ceiling in white . Just so it isn't grey . The kitchen end , and the cupboard doors -- burnt orange would suit , royal blue maybe , or the bright ornage/yellow or red if you want colour , but I sense thats a No . The outside fence in charcoal , the underside of the terrace roof probably charcoal too , but I'd want to know the rest of the outside colours -- lets hope they aren't grey haha ! THEN you can do the white marble table , the gold legged chairs , obviously the rug , you'd even get away with the grey couches , BUT add some coloured cushions , maybe some light blue and some royal blue to reference the rug . Maybe mid and rich red to reference the kitchen . Even the charcoal might work but it needs something -- a bright lamp , at least 1 large abstract art work in the tones you want -- the reds and/or the blues and/or the yellows -- several colours , and several shades of your dominant two . Doing it now will cost $5-10k , but it will look much more integrated , it will be done , and easier than in a year too haha ! Delay if budget is tight , but I'd personally sooner do that and have a $100 dining table with a $30 tablecloth for the 1st year or 2 , than a $2k or $5k marble and gold one ....See Morerichmigs
