If you plan to usually leave the door open to the powder room, I would have the woodwork match. If you don't, then do what makes you happy on the cabinets. As far as colors, I like ice blue in the bedroom and ecru in the powder room. That's what I've had for the last 5 years since we had to rebuild (after a fire) and I still love the colors. (Remember not to use yellow or green in the room where you will apply your make-up.)

Hi Maria, I see what you mean as I too had blackbutt floors laid and was surprised to see mostly red and not the lighter blackbutt that I was expecting and I have grey floor tiles that butt up to the floor as shown here in these two photos. The difference being that they are two separate zones and yours is one zone. I would suggest a lighter grey on the walls and perhaps a mirror above the basin that has the same wood tone above. Everything then should compliment each other.

I have timber on island and laminate on rest and am happy with that. Would need to tonal,y match so it is your choice of timber or stain.

It depends on your tiles and tastes. I prefer the timber look as it adds a touch of warmth, however, some faux timber vanities look cheap when you look at the details, such as the edge of the doors. If the tiles behind the vanity are white you have a good chance of a mismatched white between the tiles and the white vanity. One item will be a purer white, and the other will look dirty or cream colour when they are hard up against each other. The number of vanity bowls depends on your bathroom rush-hour. If there is no clash of peak bathroom times then most people prefer more usable bench peace than another vanity bowl to keep clean. Your bathroom vanity is going to be there for a long time, so choose quality and practicality over superficial finishes. Check how well it is built, how well the doors open and close, and the guarantee. Poorly built vanities often suffer water damage.
