What colour should I paint my bedroom walls?

I'm redoing my bedroom and I just bought this beautiful bedding, but I'm not sure what colour to paint the walls to go with it. I'm thinking of going with a beige, but I don't want it to look too boring. I'm planning on getting either white curtains or turquoise to tie in with the small pillow. Apologies for the image quality; I only had my phone handy.

I would paint your wall either the teal blue...same as the cushion and do the curtains in the colour of your back pillows on the bed...taupe or beige or I would do the reverse of this...I would not go ivory as it will look like a cream or dirty white...just personal opinion. You could also do a tieback on the curtains in a teal rope or a piping in teal. Hope this helps..

thankyou housson! yes im thinking of a medium brown (see piks) but not sure if its going to make the room look smaller or just be nice and cosy like im visualizing? yes i was thinking about doing the white boarding on the ceiling (think this is what you mean by clapboards?) will just make it even more 'country' tell me which of the piks you like.... Why wouldn't you use a front balcony? It looks very private and depending on the aspect and your view , it would be a great spot for a morning coffee or glass of wine in the evening. As you may have guessed we are building a new home with a front balcony! We have views of a park and distant bay and being a northerly aspect it will be great all year round. I think the problem is the heavy look of the balustrade. A modern update here could give you a beautiful outdoor space- don't brick it in.

Hi, Love the artwork. Because they're so small, how about putting them vertically, side by side on the wall where the bookcase is. I'd either take out the bookcase, or paint it white. If space is an issue in the room, you could maybe replace the bookcase with a small ottoman/ pouf in a textured plain fabric. This gives guests a place to lay their clothes at night or to set an overnight bag. You could consider a LARGE, maybe hectagonal grey framed mirror over the bed to echo the lines in the bedding. The bedding has a lot of pattern and a mirror may be all you need. Most of all, don't rush. Take your time and enjoy the process.

I always said I wouldn't do beige but we have... our lovely interior designer convinced me and she was right. It was a great decision, the bedroom is really calm and restful. We have a white bed, white bed spread and darker timber night stands, white shutters. At the moment we have mulberry accents in the pillows and throws, i will swap those for blues now it is warmer. You have that beautiful teal to play with.

I'd go with a yellowish green shade of beige - hard to describe - maybe pistachio? You have to be careful with greens. I find- a small amount goes a long way! You might find your favourite paint mix has hardly any green in it. Make sure you test a few sample pots on a big piece of card first and hold these up in the room in light, shadow, under electric lights- every aspect! Remember too that colours look a couple of shades darker inside. Good luck!

I have cream/ivory walls in my bedroom and they look fantastic - NOT DIRTY WHITE - this wall colour is great for changing the tone of your bedroom year after year if you see any other colour that you like, all you do is change the accessories to give some colour to your room, ie: candles, vases, bed cover, mats etc.

I went for the bold feature wall in a navy behind the bed and love it - teal would look good with that linen. The rest of the walls are a neutral shade, so still restful enough for me.

Hi evas1,

We are loving teal at the moment too! However once you find another colour, you will want to switch up the paint. This is why we are suggesting you go neutral with the walls (Dulux White exchange half) and accessorising with colour- making it interchangeable as seasons/trends go by.
