Hi Andrew At Bodo, our motto for exterior colour schemes is Keep It Simple! with a maximum of 3 colours, including your roof, windows etc. If you break this rule, the colour scheme becomes complicated and fussy, and may make your house appear smaller, as introducing differing colour in differing sections, confuses the eye line. Thankyou for your response. We live in Orange NSW which is one of the coldest places in NSW. Generally our summers are mild. We do get some hot days but rarely over 35c. However it could still be a problem. Will give it some thought. Problem is I really love monument. Cheers

Thank you so much everyone for your great ideas, advice and uploads. I've decided on glass for pool fencing, Dune for render colour, but still undecided about front balustrade and handrails. While I love the idea of stainless steel, I'm still not confident that a modern look will suit the front facade. I keep coming back to the classic look in Lesley's pic but wonder whether white powder coating is the way to go or whether it would be too busy for my facade as I have stairs/handrails to consider. Still pondering over too many choices!

I think you will get more bang for your street appeal Reno buck from refreshing garage door, and awnings, and some landscaping: perhaps even a timber pergola style entry way to add some visual interest. Pressure cleaning roof, paving as well will give it all a lift. You can always change you mind and render later. But I think with these changes, the lovely white windows and charm can shine through more, without the expense and upkeep involved in rendering.
