Placement of wood burning stove and use of mini-orb as heat shield

We are building and putting in a large wood burning stove (large unit with glass doors) that will power a radiator hydronic heating system. The space we have for the stove is a bit smaller than we hoped. Our home is steel framed and we are thinking of putting mini-orb up as a heat shield on the wall behind it (with no plasterboard) to reduce the clearance from wall. We (or the manufacturers of mini-orb) are not sure if mini-orb qualifies as a heat shield....anyone come across this? Not sure if we should used the perforated type for air flow or normal. We are going for a slightly industrial look as the unit is this style.
Anyone any experience of this?

Mini orb will radiate all heat from the heater and will only act as a cladding to the steel frame wall (assume steel stud walls and not structural steel?) Will the wall still be insulated and lined on the opposite side? How far will the stove sit from the wall? Is the stove insulated well?? These and other factors all contribute.

At the end of the day the mini orb is a cladding material and not designed for this application, so they will not provide a warranty. Also remember excessive heat will alter the finish on the mini orb

This is very similar to a detail I am using on a house I am designing. In this house the screen behind the woodburner is a pre-coated steel corrugate. The manufacturers are happy with the temperatures the paint will be exposed to in this situation. Talk to the suppliers of mini-orb to confirm it for your situation.

To function as a heat shield the steel needs to have sufficient ventilation space behind it, so needs to be fixed on heat resistant spacers and have sufficient openings top and bottom of the screen to allow the air to flow freely. This can be achievable with sufficient perforations or with clear openings.

You will need lining such as plasterboard behind the screen.

The detailing of the edges for the screen will affect how the screen works with your design, so think that through.
