Tiny Bathroom - Please help!
Comments (46)For those still reading this thread. We just recently completed a bathroom reno in almost identical sized space though turned the other way. A lot of reflection in the photos sorry but there is a lot of glass and mirror. A cavity slider, while an added big expense, made the whole thing possible. To create the space I used the adjoining separate toilet room for the 1200 x 900 shower and shallow tall cabinet on the left and gained a closet in the hall outside with the rest of that corner. I also recessed the towel rail which helped give room to the shower entrance and not stick out in front of the loo. Wall hung vanity and toilet. Porcelain wood planks on floor with underfloor heating and also used in shower base. Excuse the towels, they are not my normal ones ! It was a big decision about joining the rooms and whether to keep the bath / shower but I think it paid off. There is just the two of us and it's a real pleasure to use and no longer feels like "standing room only"...See MoreTiny ensuite renovation
Comments (32)Such great ideas from everyone. The smaller the space, the more creative you need to be. A friend of mine has a tiny ensuite which she turned into a "wet room" and some of her Reno ideas are: Back-to-wall toilet (less space, easy to clean), In-wall (cavity) cabinet, Wall hung sink with a built in side shelf (with lovely chrome trap/plumbing). You do have to waterproof the ENTIRE room to have a wet room but don't need a shower door. She also tiled about 30cms outside the ensuite door (in the bedroom area) to save the bedroom floor from any water damage which turned out to be a great idea. Good luck with the Reno and I hope you post your "after" pics....See MoreMore bench space in laundry or window in powder room
Comments (14)Consider the sightline from outside the laundry room. With the second option if both doors are left option do you see the toilet from a living area? There is not enough information on the plan to see what room is adjacent to the laundry. If you do decide to go with option 2 ensure that you use a single switched exhaust fan/light unit in the ceiling, so that when somebody visits the loo and turns on the light then the exhaust fan turns on while the light is on. One of my clients had a similar internal room for a powder room and I designed an internal high light window to the powder room that borrowed some natural light from the adjacent bathroom. A small window with a sill at 1800mm above the floor level on the wall behind the toilet cistern would "borrow" some natural light from the laundry and still provide adequate privacy for option 2. Comments (3)trying not to rearrange the plumbing too much my suggestion has a double shower and big vanity but you'll need to be careful choosing the new toilet and vanity to make sure that you find the ones with the smallest back to front dimensions to allow maximum walking and dressing space in the middle of the room...there should be enough space to have a wall hung medicine cabinet on the window wall but keeping the hinged bathroom door would be better for an extra towel rack and clothes hooks on the back of the door and is much less expensive than changing the wall to add a cavity slider hat...See MoreChristine Thorne
