Kelly - at the top right of your comment is a delete and edit button. Just click the delete on each duplicate and it will go away. I love white curtains in a room, they really add freshness. For a lounge room though I would use a sheer fabric that is more structured and heavier than a normal sheer - if that makes sense. If you use a double track you could then put a thermal lining behind the sheer for privacy at night or for keeping the sun/heat out. It will also keep warmth in in winter. I take it your artwork is in red and black and assume your lounge is black? I'm thinking green would be a good colour to introduce into your room. Post photos when your furniture arrives and we can take it further from there if you like.

Thanks to nickybaruch I am now considering doing the floor (which is now sanded back ready for finishing off) with white liming with a slight tint colour in it. Some say you have to be very careful when liming. Is this a problem? I would have thought it would be just like putting on a stain? Anyway doing it that way we would still see the grain of the timber floor which would be lighter than the dark cedar it was before and keeping the pine lined ceiling with the cedar coloured beams will blend in well I think with the lighter timber floor and the white walls we now have. What do you think?

Ellen, as you have two high windows that do not need cover - especially when they add so much light to the room, if you wanted to have curtains on the large corner windows, there could be one stacking left on the street side and one stacking right on the other, with fixed roman blinds over the two high windows, using the same fabric. These will act like a pelmet and it will seem that the window goes to the ceiling and the whole effect gives a gracious look to the room (and I am so over roller blinds, they are practical, but boring). This is a sheer curtain, but I think you require something denser to keep out prying eyes at night. Sheer curtains don't permit much vision from the street during the day, just movement. At night when the light is on it is the reverse. So you could have block-out blinds behind the sheer curtains that are just lowered at night. Otherwise, you could have decorative curtains and blind, below are the latest ideas from Europe; I have tried to give you a variety of styles, as there was no mention of which direction you wish to proceed in your home. Price check everything before deciding. Many people take too much advice from salespeople who want to sell you just what they have. A solid timber flooring isn't really that much more than a timber floating floor. I've found the cost difference is having the solid floor sanded and polished, oiled, etc. only. There is some quite expensive floating floor options and some really cheap ones. Buyer beware!
