Give the ceiling a splash of white and perhaps the bricks, too? It will make a good contrast to the natural colours in your would-be garden. :)

I think your front door has the potential to really be the focal point of your front, and the unique solid timber detail would be enhanced by clever and creative use of colour.
To address being able to see the door, your screen door can be modified easily by yourself, by simply removing te steel chain link insert in the door which is separate from the mesh. It can be taken out or cut out with a grinder. The mesh can be replaced with a titanium or toughened one, often nowadays they are more transparent than the old fibre ones. Removing the steel chain link will make the door visible while still keeping out the flies. Consequently, the security element will be compromised, although a simple deadbolt could be added to that solid timber door to compensate.
I would apply a lovely green shade, perhaps a garden green that links into your foliage, and helps unify the garden with the house. The frame of the aluminium door can be painted with spray paint, so perhaps choose this first, and then the door colour. As spray can colours are limited in comparison.
A hint to allow the green of a garden become a hero, is to minimize the structure amongst it, by painting trims, windows, doors and gutters etc in a charcoal, the green garden will really pop.

I would paint the door a warm bright colour - maybe eau de nil? and paint the eave lining a very pale tint of the same shade. I'd put a large glazed pot in the same colour family by the door with a beautiful plant in it, and maybe change the light fitting. But I'd be choosing colours that I was sure would work with my long-term plans for the house.

PS - my house had a door of that vintage and similar style - I liked it but it didn't suit the house (edwardian) - so we painted it black and painted an ochre diamond in the centre, over the mouldings. I have also seen one of those doors on an unspeakably trendy restaurant in Brunswick, partly stripped back, with some panels taken out and replaced with green textured glass. Not suggesting you do that but it's interesting to see what can be done with a door.

Add a timber slat screen so you don't see the door. Might be a nice feature against the brick something like this

Is it possible to add some vertical slats across that front section and paint in same colour as door - i love your front door! Just update the screen door in same colour as the vertical slats and door? Hard to tell exact colour in brick, would Klavier by Dulux be too dark?

Plan for changes when you can afford them. In the meantime, you can highlight the pattern on the front door. Don't worry about the screen to start with as a highlight will make the screen less noticeable. I'd start a climber, in a pot to soften the brick pier...something fragrant like stephanotis or star jasmine which are slow but have lovely dark green foliage when not in flower. Cheers.

Depending on whether you want to keep the flyscreen or upgrade to a security door, but I'd suggested the following three options (from cheapest, updwards):
1. Powder coat the existing screen in a contrasting colour. I'd suggest a vibrant green to link the garden to the house. Note: this will only work on metal, not nylon; and applies if you love the existing door enough to keep it. Around $50.
2. Replace the door with a lighter colour screen. Around $400.
3. Replace the door with a glass security door. In the $thousands.

One word RED! Paint the door a shade of red & blend the same colour with the gutters to really make the door pop through the screen & come alive!

Agree with Michael Bell Architects - great suggestion if your on a tight budget perhaps add house numbers on the column.

It is the ceiling and garden that are letting this picture down. The ceiling needs to be a colour that works with the colour of the bricks - currently it doesn't. The suggestion of the house numbers on the column is good - keep them big or you are wasting your time.
But the garden is all wrong. The retaining wall is past its use-by-date and looks as tho it could be removed without the need to replace it. A garden of green would work without the need for any other colour as green against the colours in your home would work beautifully.

Mission brown is no-ones friend. Paint the ceiling white, the screen door the colour of that reddish brown guttering and plant some matching red hue flowers in that front bed where the white agapanthus is. Put some contrast colours in the flowers - blue and or white.

firstly, council may require you to erect a railing at the edge of the porch as it may be dangerous for children. I would remove the screen door as it serves no purpose unless it is the proper security door and I don't think it is. Thirdly I would paint the door a vibrant colour and plant some really nice plants at the front there. Hope this helps & good luck.

I am assuming that entrance to the front door is from the left - not from straight ahead.

Do you need the screen door? I recently moved into a house without one and I don't miss it.
