Both photo's look lovely but I still would prefer a white toilet seat and have black accents somewhere else in the design as already shown.

I like them in period houses, but definitely not modern or contemporary ones.

White and grey and black are trendy. The Chinese have brightly patterned loo seats with designs on the lids. Public conveniences have stainless steel loos...good idea. Some homes have wooden ones. Mine is a solid mahogany original loo seat with its original brass hinges and fittings ( nice and warm in winter since to loo room faces South...so Its a keeper. Totally dislike black toilet seats...even in...yuk...black loo rooms.

I dislike black as a decor accent anywhere. The furthest I will go is Charcoal...now THAT'S an interesting shade for a toilet seat!
I've seen all colours in ceramic toilets, even sickly purple- pink and all colours in plastic toilet seats including black...mostly black...well ALL black then..some .with an open space at the front for reasons that should be ovbious. Have not seen one of those since the 1940's though. I recall that in those times most vehicles on the road were also black and when my Dad sent from Nauru Island where he worked for some car paint...all there was - was black. Dark Days those! Why bring them back in tpoilet seats?
So, now that we've experienced all colours and some lids with embedded artwork, some of it not really good....why not a charcoal toilet seat? Why has it "gotta be white?" Why, Maybelbridges, do you think you can see if its clean ONLY if it is white? Is that why everybody is painting just about everything white? Tis a puzzlement!
Having returned to this poll and given due consideration to all comments....I think I will also sit on the fence..(.opps...seat) and say...weeeellll.....what does it matter what colour as long as it keeps a lid on things? And...for me...I'll opt for something to the left, something you can polish to a high sheen with fragrant O'Cedar and say...gimme a warm wooden one any day above all the rest.

Black looks great! Balances the rest of the scheme perfectly.

Bathroom and especially the toilet seat is an area where cleanliness is so important to the eye. And black is a no no for me , one can never see if that seat has a mark on it!!!!

Sorry to say I cannot see why keeping a black surface clean can be any different than any other colour. If anything, I think that black shows the dirt more....I suppose the aversion to black, for some, come from the moral concept that black signifies dirty....and its simply a fantasy. As for "cleanliness (being) so important to the eye..." so - if you can't see it ...its not there...or, if you can't see it so can't clean it properly that's a really bad thing ? I don't get that! Cleanliness is important for its own sake.....dirty is dirty and anybody with normal sight can see dirt on any colour especially if its smooth and shiny..you see the smudges really well!

What did Shakespeare write?. "A rose of any other name would smell as as sweet'= A dirty black-colourd surface if it were of any other colour would be just as dirty! Does that make sense? As for black loo seats...Nothing against those in bathrooms themed in black and white with the B&W tiles on the floor. Oh my ears and whiskers...what a silly debate.

A killer to keep clean

To Zens lifestyle....because you can't see the dirt or because the dirt is more obvious?

Having lived with many different coloured toilet seats over the years, I fail to see why one should be restricted to white, in the name of "cleanliness". Bacteria cannot be seen on any colour - therefore just clean your toilet seats, whatever colour!
