Hi evas1, We are loving teal at the moment too! However once you find another colour, you will want to switch up the paint. This is why we are suggesting you go neutral with the walls (Dulux White exchange half) and accessorising with colour- making it interchangeable as seasons/trends go by. Check out how we style teal and blue! Throws, cushions, velvet bedheads, pillows, bedside lamps, artwork & ottomans are a great way to pack colour into the room.

I'd grow climbers in pots at the base of your columns and let the climbing plant hide the columns - I'd also be tempted to put a planter box under your window to extend the green. Warm coloured timber planter boxes would come up a treat against your light walls. You could also do hanging baskets either side of your columns if the structure permits. Louie T is correct - replace what is purely a functional entrance light with one a little more decorative, fix up the door and clean off and/or tile the floor. You might also want to think about changing your screen door to one an amplimesh (or similar style screen) that removes the obvious white grill you've got now. Think about naming your home and giving your home a sign displaying it's name. house name signs is a great way to introduce visual appeal and put your stamp on your house. If your household tends to leave shoes/boots/thongs at the door - provide seat next to the front door where they can take off their shoes/boots and leave them under the seat rather than adhoc all around the front door.

I would bring the roof line out with a pergola. Use hardwood timber and allow a natural patina to develop. This will help to give depth to the front of the home. Dont paint or stain the hardwood timber. Maybe a glory vine, but nothing just as good, and less work. I find the teal timber paint old-fashioned. Can it be stripped back to natural timber if hardwood? Otherwise a light charcoal grey would look better as the patina of the pergola timber would go this colour. I'd remove the existing garden. Maybe a native cottage garden around the periphery of the area to include some small gums for vertical accent as well as bird appeal. Keep the lawn area, but control any wandering kikuyu if this is the current lawn. Alison

To be a voice of dissent, have you considered soft greens or green-grey? I've got Baltic Pine floors, pine cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and black tiles in a BRIGHT west-facing kitchen. I went with Taubmans Swiss Meadow double strength and it compliments all the different elements. If you don't want something "obviously" green, check out Taubmans Alpine Snow (double) - it seems to change colour in different light. It's a pale green in full daylight, but looks soft grey at night.
