Bathroom dilemma

What color do you pair with this bathroom. Isn't mother in law just brought this house and asked for my advice. I hate the color. Reminds me of threat horrible peachy/ salmon color that was so popular in the 70s. She wants my advise. I already suggested changing the gold handles, but she loves them. Obviously it's not my "cup of tea" / style, can anyone who
appreciates this style advise?

We had similar color in our laundry and simply changed the rolled edge laminex with a bevilled edge stone benchtop and stainless steel handles that fitted the existing drilled holes. (We also upgraded the wall and floor tiles and added the overhead cupboards in the end, but really could have just changed the bench tops as that made an enormous difference by itself).
You have knob handles so you can't use longer handles as there is the predrilled hole. Our laminate cupboards were in good condition so I didn't want to change them but by changing the bench top and handles, we got a more modern look.
Bench guys came in, measured the bench, gave quote on the color we chose, were gone in about 20 mins, delivered the new stone tops 3 weeks later, glued them on, perfect fit, bevilled off the square edge for softer look, cleaned the stone surface of its natural dust and the whole process took 30 minutes and cost $1800. It's composite stone and looks great. Couldn't believe the difference in the change to the room.

You could possibly run 2 rows of black feature tiles, similar to art deco style bathrooms. Alternatively, using a darker grout would give the contrast against the tubs interior. More examples: Dark grout 2 Dark grout 3

I agree with middle option. currently drawing up plans too. Here is my layout. Very practical as my parents home has the same layout. my only concern is natural lighting to the WC. I am thinking of placing a high frosted window above the toilet to allow light in from the shower compartment.

if you think about the time taken to do the water damage with the existing layout you could simply repair, and retain the existing layout and have many more years of use....think about how much better the patching and waterproofing products are now (builders' bog and modern waterproofing can do wonders for holes in timber window sills etc) the bathroom is already quite special with dual access and the garden outlook.. dramatic changes would remove the best of what you already have and new owners may prefer other options... i suggest you repair and replace everything to restore the fresh look of the original bathroom and maybe add a curved rod with generous white shower curtains, plantation shutters and new coat of paint to revive the bathroom without making any dramatic changes or spending too much

If you do it stop it at vanity height. However, I’d do all horizontal plank tiles to match vanity planks and keep it simple to let the lovely vanity shine.
