Help! Bedroom wallpaper
Comments (14)Ah, that is a fun wallpaper you've chosen. I'd do it all around the room. That will be more dramatic and unexpected. Since the room is so light, it can easily take it. It will be like sleeping in the woods. Without the bugs and bears. You're doing a lovely job on the distressed night stands. I do think it will be a good idea to paint the dresser in the same colour, as collettec suggested. I'd much rather see a more decorative ceiling light or pendant. And some nice lights beside the bed or above the bed?...See MoreIs wallpaper really like a tattoo?
Comments (15)I'm not a fan of wallpaper, though I'll admit there are some powder rooms on Houzz with beautiful, two-tone wallpaper that I love. The last time we bought a house we had to choose between two equally desirable, quite similar vintage houses--one with wallpaper on every wall (even in the hallways!) and one with painted walls throughout. In both cases we planned to repaint in colors of our choice, but we bought the house without the wallpaper because it was simply less work to repaint the painted walls than to strip a house full of someone else's tacky, outdated wallpaper. So by all means use wallpaper if you love it and will be in the home for awhile, but don't expect anyone else to appreciate it when you sell. Wallpaper (like patterned fabric) is just too individual a preference to translate easily into someone else's aesthetic....See Morepaint or wallpaper for feature wall?
Comments (9)I agree paint may be more versatile - but the right wallpaper on a feature wall with that deer head would be so freaking awesome ! Depending on your colour scheme, if you go with a vintage or art deco pattern, fairly subtle and with a slight texture in it, that'll beautifully offset the deer. And if it's the right choice then you won't want to change it for the next few years anyway. So definitely wallpaper - there's some great 'wall candy' around :-) Good Luck !...See MoreNeeding some wallpaper advice
Comments (38)You're welcome! Roof/city scapes are like landscapes, but the views are of roofs not plants. Google roofscapes images and you'll get the idea : ) And if you're not bothered by the roof next door then I'm not bothered by the roof next door! I'm sad to say though that your metal outside stairs idea will likely not get approval from your local Council. I say that approval is unlikely because that roof next door seems very close, so I imagine the setback of your house (and theirs) is likely as close as Council will let you get. In other words, no building of any structure such as stairs would be allowed in the space that's there now. But never say never...give their planning department a call or submit an enquiry online and just run the plan past them. Maybe instead of stairs you actually mean a Juliet balcony? (google it!) Even that plus the type of window it's attached to is subject to Council approval so again, you would need to contact them. Plants on a Juliet balcony would indeed be very charming but I'm not sure how realistic this option is. So all that being said, I'm still going for my roofscape/cityscape option to better incorporate next door's roof. Roofscapes can include trees too you know!...See MoreEmmeline Westin
