Talking from both sides...in our old house we had Gloss cupboards our new house now we have Matt cupboars... Gloss: to clean all we needed to do was just do one quick wipe over with window shine and a cloth, they always looked beautiful and shinny...they even added money on when we sold our house!! Absolutly LOVED them...would fully recommend them Matt: to clean...there is now three stages...hot water and sugar soap to get rid of the finger marks and oils, then a wet cloth after that then you have to dry it or it looks terrible!!! i hate our cupboards now...so much effort to keep them looking nice and they are very dull but it just depends what look you are aiming for!! Okay, so as expected the matt suede surface is more expensive, not sure how much yet but when the builder says price on application, I can imagine it will be a fair bit more. Anyway, we'll see but something to take into consideration I guess... In the meantime, I was going through my idea books and found the photo below, which I kind of forgot about but is one of my absolute favourite kitchens... the point is just like the photo, we too will have a wall cabinet in matt black, the back of the island in matt black and oak floor boards in a natural/textured matt finish... so now I'm thinking maybe too many matt surfaces, interestingly they have gone with a polished stone top which I think is reflecting the light nicely... Our floors...

Hi susileh, It's important to understand there are a lot of variety of sheen levels available from left to right (no sheen to most sheen): Flat or Matt, Eggshell, Satin, Soft-Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Gloss, Super Gloss etc. For something that will seem a little fresher and new, we recommend going with Cabinetry which is between Eggshell & Satin. tysm. that's a great help. my kitchen will be in laminex chalk white with some laminex classic oak bits. A bit nervous about the chalk white as I cant find any examples of it online but will see how it looks when it is installed and match wall paint to that. s m half looks best match with the sample. my.
