How to modernise the exterior of this house??
Comments (9)Sound like good ideas to me. Orange door would look good with dark grey render. Stain any timber work charcoal. Also add horizontal boards at the house gable. Incorporate the low wall in the front fence idea by making it higher - maybe just slats so the garden can be seen through it. The mail box could be in there too. Make a further statement with fast growing trees to create an arch over the entry gate....See MoreFace / exterior of house.
Comments (26)as far as the overall look is concerned Linda..I'm going a bit left field. Change the downstairs window colour to match the upstairs, match the garage door same colour (remove the white). Trim architrave around the gable vent, it could be a bit of a feature, but paint it the same colour as the wall so it is less noticeable. Remove the extra bit of the gable down the eave (if not too excy). Now for the left field...I am going to suggest a good old planter box made out of jarrah or other nice timber slats, with pot plants that can cascade down out of the box. For interest, you can make the box out of slats, so you can see through the timber to the pots. Modern window awning again out of jarrah would look nice....See MoreHelp with exterior of house and garden
Comments (13)The front porch papers look like the eighties peachy pink smooth ones..if I'm right? You can't put paving paint over ceramic tiles...always comes off with foot traffic. We have just put bluestone papers over our ones like that...looks great. Its a nice charcoal so will go in with your colours...and a nice natural material. Also resurfaced our driveway again..get a professional...as driveway paint from the store doesn't last. A bed of white carpet roses will also bring out your white trims...in that middle section. And either a small ornamental tree in the middle or a oversized large white pot in the centre will look stunning...and give the garden some structure and interest.....See MoreWhat colour to paint exterior of house ??
Comments (12)It has a sort of Tuscan/ Mediterranian vibe , and I like most of the features ( that chimney design is clever , for example , and the way the paving is wearing is great ! ) . You say about red trim , but to me it looks like a reddy brown , which suits . The bluey greeny board doesn't suit , and doesn't go with the roof either ( I assume the roof is all those charcoal tiles ? ) . Ordinarily , I'd say to lighten the render and go with a darker board -- probably charcoal , but then thats just a continuation of the roof . BUT I like the weathered vibe of the existing render , and I like how the windows etc works with the render too . So here's my 'easy' improvement -- leave it mostly as it is , but change 2 things . The downpipe and collector near the door ( the single story one ) I'd change to genuine copper ( not just paint ) ; and the barge board around the top I'd change to either crisp white ( the safe option ) or a metallic coppery bronze -- that references the downpipe but also ties in and transitions between the render and the tiles . A bit riskier , but IMO worth trying ....See Morekarencopland
