Need help for my exterior paint colour and exterior design

Please help with with our exterior color and design. the front house is a pre war cottage which has been renovated and there are two contemporary town houses at the back which the colours of them needs to be in relation or harmony with renovated cottage . we had already thought about grey and white for the front pre war house and grey and wood door and timber door for the back town houses ( please see photo which has done by artist impression software) but I am looking forward to get some professional advice. I think the colour scheme you have in the artistic impression here is very modern and still traditional. Depending on the area though,If the house is painted in a dark color, your home will warm up a lot quicker with the sun.It depends where these homes are and their exposure to the sun. The grey in the artist impression would be a good choice because its still that modern dark colour, but at the same time its not as dark as say charcol. If you paint the roofs a lighter colour like white, this will also assist with the issue.
I really quite like the colour scheme presented in the image, and i think your ideas sound great. Really you can do any colour you like - thats the benefit of building new homes and renovating. I think you could paint all the houses in the same colour. It will be much nicer street appeal. Do you like the colour scheme in the photo? Hope all goes well.

Hi I have this color scheme in my preset
my home, and, honestly, I think I would like the exterior to be a
just a little warmer, but if you love it, instead of the red wood, I would use cedar, it's orange undertones will go better with the charcoal grey exterior.
Also, the siding thickness.. It might look better a little thicker.

I agree about the brick;it's very nice. I also like the green and cream and wheat shades-just not all three! Picking up the green will incorporate your lampost, and might look nice on the fence and porch posts.I like the idea of cream elsewhere, as it is natural and warm -like your other materials -but still fresh. Pretty property.

Unless you have the money to update everything else to better complement the bricks, painting them will give you a much more updated look. Over the past 18mths I’ve been working on the front and landscape of my current house, including painting the bricks and it has made the world of difference! I’ve attached a before and after photo! I have painted houses light grey, white (twice) and black. Each time I have used semi-gloss vivid white for my window and door trim. The semi gloss does draw ones eye more and makes it a feature (so good if thats what you like - looks fabulous when the house is matt white) but what I enjoy the most is that it is much easier to keep clean.. Many thanks for your great help and appreciate spending your time to answer my question. Maggie2 is there any possibility you could tell me which color you chose for your house and what color scheme you think you would prefer to chose now as you mentioned you preferred something warmer?the problem is when I look at some photos or even colour patchs I feel I like something a bit cooler or bluish like Dulux signature or Guild Grey but it is hard because the photos can show completely different colour and also looking at the colour in large scale can be felt completely diffeent. By the way the colour in artist impression is Dulux Malay which is brownish but if looks a bit cool in the photo. thanks again for your helps

Hi, I like the overall concept of the darkish grey, it suits the home. I am a colour consultant and have been working with the Dulux range for 17 years and you are on the right track with the Guild Grey. The Dulux Signature will give you a dark blue house. Another option if Simone Weil which is just a bit lighter than the Guild Grey, if you find that one too dark. Sample pots and A4 brush outs onto white cardboard are the best way to decide, because computer programs give an overall impression of the "look" but are not accurate with colour choices, you can't beat the human eye. All the best, it's going to look great.

We used Dulux 'exposed elements' double strength on our house and we love it!

oh thanks heaps for all your helpful comments and the photos looks great. creativepossum you are completely right and we ordered sample pot and A4 bush to see the real colours :-) Guild gray was my choice as well but it is a good idea to look at the real colours to see how do they feel. thanks again for helps

We used Dulux Apparition our cladding and painted the trim, eaves etc dulux natural white. The downpipes are evening haze which match the dulux wall colour ( appartion) perfectly. Looks lovely and fresh and is not grey. As much as I love grey, everyone was doing it so we went for something nice and soft and neutral so it would be easy to live with but a little bit different to grey.

I would suggest you look at Dulux Malay Grey or Flooded Gum...also Dulux Teahouse and Timeless Grey with Western Myall as an accent.
