Need help for my exterior paint colour and exterior design
Comments (14)Hi, I like the overall concept of the darkish grey, it suits the home. I am a colour consultant and have been working with the Dulux range for 17 years and you are on the right track with the Guild Grey. The Dulux Signature will give you a dark blue house. Another option if Simone Weil which is just a bit lighter than the Guild Grey, if you find that one too dark. Sample pots and A4 brush outs onto white cardboard are the best way to decide, because computer programs give an overall impression of the "look" but are not accurate with colour choices, you can't beat the human eye. All the best, it's going to look great....See MoreNeed help with exterior paint colours
Comments (6)I definitely agree with Tribbletrouble. The current trend of very dark roofs is perplexing in a hot country such as Australia. I suspect this is a trend that will be short lived because the colour of your roof is important regarding energy efficiency. A dark colour such as Monument has a high Solar Absorptance (0.73). In the general range of roofing colours you can get much better colours, such as Surfmist or Classic Cream which are SA 0.32. You can usually find the SA rating on the brochures. The same argument goes for colours of large expanses of walls and paving such as the driveway, with lighter colours being a better choice if you live somewhere where summers are hot. Of course if you live somewhere cold, darker colours would be a better choice but for most (if not all) of Australia, lighter colours make much more sense (and good cents)....See MoreNeed help selecting a paint colour for render
Comments (17)Thank you so much everyone for your great ideas, advice and uploads. I've decided on glass for pool fencing, Dune for render colour, but still undecided about front balustrade and handrails. While I love the idea of stainless steel, I'm still not confident that a modern look will suit the front facade. I keep coming back to the classic look in Lesley's pic but wonder whether white powder coating is the way to go or whether it would be too busy for my facade as I have stairs/handrails to consider. Still pondering over too many choices!...See Moreneed help with exterior render colors
Comments (2)I have Monument windows black brick and render in Dulux white duck. The whole inside is painted in Whisper white but it was way to bright for out side. The designer chose the Dulux white duck and I’m very happy with the colour. Looking at your house and imagining without all the scaffold that’s what I would choose. Grab a sample and paint a large piece of cardboard, that way you can move it around and see it in the sun, shade etc, remembering that the scaffold creates a massive amount of shade....See More- 11 years ago
