Hi plquality! The grass is a form of Lomandra confertifolia called 'Seascape'. Isn't it wonderful?! I used it here as a mini-maze for the clients young children to play in and around...extending their playspace to the front garden. There are some other really beautiful forms of Lomandra these days...worth checking out.
Thank you so much for responding. Your project is beautiful!!! I thought the Lomandra seascape was more silver gray colored. I'm looking for a clumping grass, that grows in full sun, green in color, 8-18" and drought tolerant for san diego area. This photo is the look I'm after but the write and photo of lomandra confertifolia seascape describes it differently. What am I missing.
Thanks so much. This Lomandra has a greyish feel, but is more of a deep 'blue-grey' green. I have it planted in my garden alongside Blue fescue (Festuca glauca) and so looks quite dark green in comparison. Suggest you take a look at it at your local nursery...sometimes the pics aren't true to colour. The pic in this link is pretty true to form from my experience: http://www.prestigeplants.com.au/www/content/default.aspx?cid=904
Have you seen Lomandra 'Lime Tuff'...it's lime green and gorgeous!! Another beauty is Lomandra 'Katie Belles': deeper green, wider leaf, but with lovely, more obvious flowers.
Check out Lomandra Breeze. It's green year round. It's clumping so it's well mannered and won't be invasive. During drought it stops growing but stays green. It Gives a drought tolerant landscape a sense of lushness. It looks great as a turf replacement or in mass planting. I live in San Diego too. It grows great here!
