I so agree with Sarah. Let the floor be timber and the cupboards fade away into the walls with a soft putty colour. Those lights so need replacing also...there is a conical clear glass pendant light that would look good here! Pearl Lighting in Willoughby have them and elsewhere. Dont know what you are thinking for the floor, but there are some wonderful jute rugs around such as Armidillo. Enjoy your room! Victoria

Measure the actual width and height of the TV (neither figure will be 65 inches) then decide whether you want it in a wall unit, as above, or on an entertainment unit, and how much space you want around the TV. I've got a 50 inch TV on a 1950 mm wide entertainment unit, which to my eye, looks about right, and gives me room for a few decorative bits on either side of the TV. If I had a 65 inch TV, I'd go for something bigger. Of course, it also depends on how big the room is, and what proportions would look good in it.

This is very similar to our floor plan (yet to start building) ... same as you we have our backyard to the north, kitchen to the east, dining table in the middle, lounge to the west. And we had the exact same dilemma where to put the couches. We decided on position 1 but in an L shape with a couch along the west wall and north wall. And we will have two arm chairs or ottomans in your couch position 2. We decided on this because it feels more open and didn’t want the TV to be a main focal point. Don’t necessarily want to see the back of the couch either.

In the 3rd picture , we can see the potplants , the artwork and the exterior , and IMO it looks more pleasant than the other 2 pics , which look pretty styled and impersonal . The wall above the second unit ( the dining area ) needs an artwork to balance the TV on the other side , and maybe its just me , but I think the 2 units are a bit light in colour -- in the pictures , they almost look 'fake timber' , a bit lacking in warmth against the offwhite walls , and even against the dining table ( the dining table , even though its lighter , looks better IMO ) . Others may disagree , just my taste . I also don't think the 2 light styles quite gel -- I understand what you were trying to do , but it hasn't quite worked in my eyes . I love the dining table ones , the lounge one is a bit too meh for me .
