Need help with choosing colour grey for sitting room

We're about to have the sitting room painted and the red furniture replaced. The room faces west, but onto a shady spot in garden. I'm thinking about a warm deep grey for the walls, and Antique white USA for all the wooden trims (mantlepiece, picture rail, skirting boards etc) and white plantation shutters instead of curtains. I've seen so many greys that I like in photos, but I'd love to hear from people who've had success with using grey, and images if possible. (We'll be covering over the brick work around fireplace and painting same as walls. The wooden headpiece on the mantle will be removed and replaced with a large mirror).
