Hi! Perhaps if you swap the drainer over to the other side of the sink you could move the dishwasher over next to the cutlery drawers. This would then allow you access to the corner of the cupboard providing more storage. Currently the corner can't be used as it is stuck between the dishwasher and the oven.

I don't know the dimensions but the island seems quite far in to the centre of the room. Would it work to push it closer to the living room? This would add space for people standing in front of the fridge which can be a busy area in a Kitchen.

I generally like to cover up my cabinet ends with wall nibs but that can add expense. Maybe you could try to keep the last bit of wall when you demolish the rest.

Budget permitting I prefer overhangs or waterfall ends on the sides of island benches.

On a bigger budget a window splashback to the hot plate wall would be great to allow more visibility out to the back yard.
