Painting one wall can create your 'feature' or 'accent' wall but it lacks impact as you say. I would remove/reduce the objects on the left or put them within a low unit with doors and just one or two accessories. Currently the eye is drawn to the accessories. Then a piece of art work would work well, preferably big.

I was thinking it was too busy with the items on the shelves, I was hoping the white would break it up a bit. I was also thinking a big peice of art work either one in the middle or 2 either side? what colour art work do you suggest? would a busy pattern work or something more bold?

Can you add photos from a couple of other perspectives. Not sure this is the right wall to feature as you wouldn't see it when seated. There is not enough contrast with seating and as others have said it makes that part of the room dark and uninviting. Like it in the entrance though. If we can see the whole room it would be easier to offer other suggestions to achieve the look you want.

i think i should have done the wall with the tv on it? I was hoping to get all white furniture to let the wall be the feature. the wooden tv unit is going as i replaced it with a white one and didnt know what to do with the space but thinking a fishtank

Murals look fabulous on a wall and you can get Half Walls that go above furniture. That would really stand out. The bookcase I think is out of place on that wall

You are right the white furniture will make the purple wall pop. It can still work with your grey suite, just not on the same wall as the suite. Your TV wall sounds like the best option, but before you paint the whole wall, try painting a large piece of board that you can prop against the wall for a few days. This will let you see it under different light conditions at various times of the day.

Accessories are important, complementary area rug (pic 3) , coordinating cushions and some artwork (pic 2) will tie it all together. Key is not to over do it with too much furniture - keep it simple. I am not a fan of fishtanks in the living room, unless you are really up for maintaining it, as they can quickly become murky and could spoil the fresh look you want to achieve. A high storage unit might be more practical and useful as in pic 4. White timber blinds instead of the curtains, definitely, with side drapes to contrast.

I'm afraid you will have to repaint the other wall and when you do find a big piece of artwork to hang there instead. Good luck, you have good instincts for design and don't forget to post some updates.

thanks guys for the inspirarion and advise. i moved the book case and put up a picture and can see where I need to go from here. just need my bank account to catch up :-)

in the first picture what about some cane baskets and put the photos on top of table. Love the wall colour and the white table, it just a matter of putting everything else around it to draw it all together, also love the white skirting boards. I think you are on the right track.

what about a wall of photos in white frames, that would look amazing
