Beautiful image. As it's so large, I'd place a timber hall stand underneath it, and lean it against the wall rather than hang it, then I'd place a collection of relevant objects on the table. 1. A lamp, perhaps a ceramic base with native American colour and shape, or simple pottery base. With a simple calico shade. A pottery or timber low tray with some tactile collectibles, like some river pebbles, different rock, a piece of and old timber branch, thats been smooth by touch, or timber carved balls. ( I know you're probably thinking what?) And lastly, I'd hang it above the picture, or rest on a table a feather headpiece. You can get these online, even I've seen them around Melbourne in odds and ends stores. Maybe if it's on your table, a timber head that milliners use for a display. You could continue this look with an Aztec looking rug or cushions to break up your leather couch. Mohair throw might look good too.

To Ella Kate Thrupp....."a woven piece"...as in a wall rug or a tapestry suggested by yours truly and Tribbletrouble441452k7 Trek? Or maybe you have a more novel idea in mind? Have you come across any "woven" art in your professional travels? I have a friend who actually weaves tapestries on a loom as they did centuries ago thread by thread. They are exquisite and each a unique artwork. She works professionally on commission Very time consuming, meticulous and expensive and she also does it simply for relaxation and sells them. Wonder would there be anything along this line available commercially today? Such a "woven piece" would make an enormous impact in any room, so beautiful and unique in a bedroom especially if a design woven to order...but Yikes $$$$$. Afterthought...a painted MURAL designed to order might be a touch of luxury if you engaged somebody to do it and they presented you with a series of pictures for you to choose from.....that would not fall down! I did one for a friend's guest donga in Charleville QLD...she wanted a fantasy and had a lot of input herself, it was a collaborative effort and she got exactly what she wanted. Can't go wrong with a mural...can always paint over it when you want something different.

Agree with everyone who said that art should speak to them and not be purchased simply to match existing décor. I am a bit of an art hoarder. I have so many pieces of art that I buy simply because I love them or they really do speak to me! I do not have enough walls to hang all my art, so I simply recycle them. I move them around or replace one with another over and over again. When I purchase art for clients I do so in various ways. Art auctions, galleries, online, commissions etc. it really depends on what the client's budget is, how far I can push the client's boundaries but still stay within the parameters of what they like, and most importantly, how the art makes the client feel! I never buy art for a client and just install it without their imput because what speaks to me may not speak to them! I really like your pieces TJG creative! I happen to love photography however, most clients ( at least the majority of the ones I have worked for) seem to be glued to the idea of paintings. every now and then I manage to convince a client to include black and white photography in their home and I do this by bringing my own pieces in, showing them how wonderful they can be in their space and they are usually keen then to purchase some of their own. I try to steer away from art prints if possible because in my opinion, something original can always be found to suit anyone's taste and budget. By buying original artworks, we are supporting our local art communities and encouraging new and emerging artists to continue pursuing their dreams. Cute and quirky, imo. Also not a pro, but wearing my business hat: work out your break even cost (make sure you add a fair but decent hourly rate for ALL your time and count all your expenses including running a business costs). Add on what you think is a fair mark up - the stress of running a business deserves additional payment! Consider your marketing options: online as bigreader mentioned; markets; local art / craft collectives; local home decor stores; a mix? All come with time or additional costs in time, fees or commissions. Now google comparable items, visit the markets and stores and see what is selling and at what price. Call in on a midweek day and speak to the store managers. Start small, don’t buy any expensive equipment or create a large stockpile until you’re established, but start now if you decide to go ahead.
