Worst thing about Aussie homes?
Comments (121)You know, Alipetecampbell, I think a lot of good could be done by simply not allowing houses to be built unless they're designed by a qualified architect and signed off by a qualified engineer, and built to minimum standards that ensure proper passive climate control (insulation, glazing, orientation etc.) and social linkage issues - let's ban the food desert and the nappy valley. Developers have a vested interest in building cheap, and those rubbish houses sell because (a) there's not much else on the market and (b) superficially they look okay. You'd argue that what I'm proposing would raise housing costs, but let's stop making billionaires of developers, let's stop councils from charging silly money for planning fees (eminently doable if housing is professionally designed) and, as I have said above, use less land for more housing AND more greenspace too, and the cuts in cost these measures would create could go towards making all houses better....See MoreMultiple generations in one home - yay or nay?
Comments (32)I don't think I can move back in with my parents..and once my kids are older I don't think they can live with us.. I have had my mother in law stayed with us before ..2 days at a time was fine then she came to stay for 2 weeks ..after one week I moved out ..we were fighting all the time ..me and hubby..in the end I left him a letter explaining why..because I didn't want him to have to take sides lol my dad didn't talk to me for weeks for loss of face..my parents asked me when I'm older and what happens if my son's wife did that to me? I'd never expect my son to choose me over his wife..lol may be it's me I've seen plenty that I wouldn't wish on another female.. my kids have all been brought up to be independent ..they are also very strong willed and stubborn as..so no thanks we've worked hard ..the rental we just bought is for them when they are older and have jobs I'm kicking all of my three kids out into the rental lol I want time to go travelling ..peace and quiet .....See MoreHouzzer Christmas prezzies.

Comments (5)This advice may not be of help but I had silicone all over glass bricks and when I read the destruction notes on the tube, it said use turps. I did use one of those razor blade scrapers as suggested in the previous post and it did help once the silicone softened up but I would be concerned about it scratching the floor in your case, albeit if you hold it right is shouldn't. I was dubious that the silicone could be removed having been there a few yeas on my glass bricks but it did work albeit it took allot or rubbing. Not sure what turps will do to the fresh polish but perhaps you could ask the maker of the silicone, as the tube info usually has a hotline number. Good luck. Cheers, Barbara...See MoreSolarventi
