Comments (54)Any advice if I try to figure out some of this myself? I found this website http://www.ikeasaudi.com/ikea.com.sa/images/stories/new2010/Web%20BG%202011/Kitchen/FAKTUM/FAKTUM_bg_GB.pdf Its overwelming for me. Did you use the online ikea design tool. I love your color scheme. How did you decide on that granite? I found this website too . Perhaps those cabinets are not available here but just where you are. either way I can find something similiar. Did you have any issues with ordering..getting parts.. assemely? Do you have any helpful tips for designing ? Did you actually hang them yourself? Is there anything about the cabinets that you find defective or insufficient or think could be better? Thank you so much for all your help....See MoreAre farmhouse sinks overrated?
Comments (151)We have four farmhouse style sinks in two different houses, and all present the same problem. It doesn't have anything to do with the material as two sinks are concrete, one stainless steel, and one composite stone. With the two kitchen sinks it's very frustrating spraying out the food particles from corner to corner. Food particles go from one side to the other, and it's very difficult to corral them to the drain. The two concrete bathroom sinks don't have enough slope, so when shaving and brushing teeth, the water and material flow to the opposite side of the sink. It's annoying to wash a 3' wide sink every time it's used. And gross if the sink isn't cleaned from side to side after every use. As a compromise, we're installing a farmhouse concrete bathroom sink with two drains and more slope. As I evaluate many things in life, a, farmhouse sink is a solutions looking for problem....See MoreSplashback hieght- non cooking wall, open plan
Comments (27)Thanks. The calacatta engineered stone bench was from a wholesaler in melbourne at the time (Polygramm), then i used his recommended stone mason who cut everything on site which took a whole day. Its equivalent to the top ranged ceaser stones... saved a few thousand after getting many quotes! Glad i chose engineered stone as i nearly went timber.. i use it everyday and its copped dropped glass jars, wine/beer, you name it.. couple of light scratches but a product called gumption seems to 'cut and polish' everything out so far. I am carefull though to use wooden chopping boards though. Very easy to clean too, i would certainly chose these style of bench tops over anything else if i was to do it again. The cabinets are by flatpackkichens in melb, they offered 50mm increments in cabinet sizes so made customising for my compacted space easy. Pretty sure they just order the doors from Polytec, which are vinyl wrapped gloss classic white in a style called sofia or atlanta (think they are the same). Good luck!...See MoreMarble, marble everywhere
Comments (13)I actually had a marble counter in a flat I lived in in Europe for a while. I knew nothing about maintenance so just treated it like any other hard surface, and it looked fine (and I wasn't the first person to live in that flat, I assure you). It's more common in Europe, and not so much trendy there as classic. But Europeans aren't quite as finicky as North Americans and Australians seem to be about flawless and unblemished finishes....See MoreBeckerWorks
