@Nicky, I have done a bit of a search on Houzz and if you search for: "A Kitchen In Three Moves" by Johnny Grey Studios, you will see a fairly large roller door, designed to cover a large area, although not to the floor but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Truly, you would be better to bite the bullet and redo the floor and if you're anything like me, you will never get over this mistake with the position of the border tiles, as it has now left you in an awkward position of not being able to put in the type of doors you want to be happy. Tell your husband that the saying in this household and certainly not just about building is: "Happy Wife, Happy Life" All I ever wanted in my home that we're currently building, were wall hung vanities and hubby flatly refused to drill through the bottom plate to accomodate the plumbing and I carefully played on this displeasure, in the right company, like my granddaughter on my side ha -ha.....and finally we're going to drill through the bottom plate and I will have my wall hung vanity!!! It means I have to go under the home and re-cut the pipes and re-direct them but I can do that easy and then seal up the hole in the sub floor, again easy, just have to glue in the piece of flooring that comes out of the new hole and it is only the sub floor. Taking allot of time to build has given me heaps of time to be sure that if there are any changes, that they're made before we got to your stage but still your problem can be solved. I don't have stacker doors, I am too far south and want an airtight seal. We are doing Binq slider which are 2400 high and around 4 mtr long - only opening one side. I can have it open to the middle or the kitchen though. And we will have a large window where the living room is as I want a cosy winter nook. But of course our living window can open for breeze too and will be about 2mtr wide at least. From what you guys are saying opening to the middle of the extension is preferable! I guess as I am the cook standing about I was thinking of myself with a pleasant breeze blowing around me as I stir my pot. ;-)

Hi Deonne If your bathroom requires the two doors, my suggestion is NOT to have a bath. Keep it very clean and neat Across the recess have either a walk-in shower with a 600mm opening OR a glass panel and door. You may consider a seat in the shower ( example on our website ) A recess ( niche ) for shower 300mm high max length Wall hung, all drawer vanity. In-wall cistern toilet suite. Mixer diverter, overhead and handheld shower. Quality tapware, with min 10-year warranty Porcelain floor tiles min 300 x 300. Tile to ceiling, ( unless home has high ceiling, if high, tile to an architrave height ) min tile size 600 x 300, Ceramic to rein in cost

Corrie Z, everybody has their own taste. Your wish to remove the 1960's doors as you say they are incredibly dated and ugly is exactly opposite to many of my clients who purchase 1960's houses that still have these original features. I have even had clients who have wanted to re-instate glazed sliding doors that have been removed as they like the flexibility and ability to partially close a room off. So while they may be original not everybody agrees with you that they are ugly. Hopefully somebody who does appreciate them will be able to buy them if you put them on ebay or gumtree rather than go to landfill. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls
