Tiles and Kitchen
Comments (6)Just today I had a client in who changed their entire flooring and upgraded it to timber. This just highlighted how tired the kitchen really was. I think this is true in the opposite too. By upgrading your kitchen you will be highlighting your floors so if you have the budget I would say definitely change the floors and timber is a great classic choice if you stick with a known Australian species....See MoreDecision on vanity - Poly finish or timber finish?
Comments (6)Hi Ron, I think that's a great selection and I believe will work well together. The black and white of the stone/tile has a nice minimalist feel, and a wooden look vanity will offset that with some warmth. Definitely recommend that, well done :-) I've attached a pic of a similar approach we've designed recently - timber veneer vanity with black marble tile with white solid surface sink, has a similar feel. Now with the timber you have to make sure that - if it is veneer (i.e. actual timber) it has a good protective coat (you could go for a 2pack finish or similar), and if it is a timber-look-laminate, make sure to double-check with the supplier it is suitable for bathroom application. I wouldn't recommend using veneer for the top surface, but you could use a suitable laminate, or you could even go for a solid timber bench top if you don't want to do stone. If it was me, I would just do the vertical surfaces in wood, and the bench top differently :-) Anyway, good luck with it all ! Marc....See MoreHelp me choose a colour fence please......
Comments (13)Oh! Sorry I misunderstood your post. I think it depends on what type of planting you will have along your fence line. I assume it will be a Colorbond fence? I wouldn't introduce Shale grey. Of those two I'd prob stick with Surfmist but then I think greenery looks FABULOUS against Monument fencing. The whole back of my house is Surfmist acrylic render and we have chosen Monument fencing and garden retainer walls/seating around the perimeter of our garden as it provides a background of depth against greenery. I know you don't like Monument though. Houzz does give you a variety of opinions and does make you think outside the square. Good luck with your choice!...See Morehelp with covered alfresco and outdoor paving decision
Comments (9)For a french Provincial style home I would research limestone pavers laid in a french pattern. French pattern is a classic method of laying irregular sized square and rectangular tiles or pavers that is non-directional and is a timeless look. Some tile companies also produce limestone look porcelain tiles that are made in irregular sizes for french pattern. I would probably just paint your retaining wall/tanks to match the exterior colour of the house. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls...See Morerhaine
