Rug colour with dark lounge
Comments (9)Hi bga14 The rug will create a zone for the area - important in an open plan area. Contrasting with the dark floor and a texture which also adds softness to the tile surface would be a great choice. Here is a couple of examples from my recent projects - one with a dark couch and one with a light couch so you can get an idea of the contrast needed between floors and furniture mix. Note the dark coffee table in the bottom pic which ties it all together. Top pic is a textured wool rug that was custom sized to fit the space. Hope these tips help. Would love to see a photo of your finished room. Best wishes....See MoreI need help with choosing a rug for my lounge area.
Comments (36)OK peeps here are a couple of pics of the new rug. Can you believe I went with my original choice. It's difficult to represent this room and the rug in pics, colours rarely look true and room always look elongated. This rug is 3 metres long and 2.5 mtrs wide but it doesn't look it. Very happy with my choice and thanks again for your help....See MoreWhich colour rug should we choose?
Comments (32)Luckily, you have a great monochrome base to start with, so you can almost go wherever your imagination takes you! You could definitely try lightening up the space to contrast the darker lounges with a lighter or brighter statement colour, but be sure to avoid any colours that are too closely matched to the existing carpet. https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/designer-collaborations/akira-isogawa-hirameki/batik-ubud/ https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/designer-collaborations/hare-and-klein/etched/ https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/designer-collaborations/bernabeifreeman/folk/ https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/designer-collaborations/greg-natale-carpet/milano/ https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/designer-collaborations/dinosaur-designs-series-1/skipping-stones/ https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/designer-collaborations/catherine-martin/westchester/ https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/handknot-collections/contemporary-hand-knot/blair-ivory/ https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/handknot-collections/contemporary-hand-knot/genesis/ https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/handknot-collections/contemporary-hand-knot/glory-days/ https://www.designerrugs.com.au/rug-collections/handknot-collections/contemporary-hand-knot/orion-silver-grey/...See MoreHelp! Which wall and rug colours will work best?
Comments (32)I am coming in very late to this discussion. But is there enough room in your space to move the furniture like this? I have moved your wooden coffee table where the couch is, and moved the cabinet so it is not the first thing you see as you enter. Moving the grey side tables to form one “modular” table creates a uniform look that doesn’t sacrifice functionality. The marble side table would then be used next to the other couch (as the cabinet is where it used to be) I would also take up the whole space between the aircon and the floor to hang your ‘family’ picture frames. The gorgeous plant is then placed on top of the coffee table to become the hero in the space. I noticed you used a grey soft looking throw blanket on the couch to the right. Is it possible to get matching versions of this to cover the sofa against the wall for the dogs? The texture and colour of the sheets you are currently using is what disconnects your lovely couch from the rest of the space. Regardless of what artworks you choose to use for above the couch, having a darker frame will help to ground them in the space. The white frames are getting lost against the white brick wall at the moment. You have great taste in furniture, it seems to be editing the layout of the space that is not quite working in your zone. Hope this helps!...See MoreSusan Ballard
