I love it, and are considering this myself which is why I can offer an insight to installation. Yours is luckily freestanding, however I would install this central to the long part of your L and enclose it within cabinetry, actually yours is Likely to just be faced with fake doors and no carcass behind, still a place to utilize storing buckets or baskets, even laundry powder, just not a standard cupboard. I would then actually install a stone benchtop making this technically undermount trough. You would still have the practical size and aesthetic impact this concrete relic has to contribute. Only, with the bench top area to make it a useable space.

With a bit of work, I've managed to find a supplier used by our builder who has stock of the original vanity and basin!

Hi Johan Not sure if it is possible with the construction of the unit, but you could possibly remove the upright cupboards (or make up new ones) and place them further out on the edges. This would visually make the unit a lot bigger and fill the space in a bit better proportion. (If you have to make up new ones you could make them deeper for more storage) you could then make up a simple panel at a cabinetmaker for the infill between in the same colour, which would allow the mounting of a large tv on it without to much drama. the bulkhead over would need to be extended also like this (quick and dirty) pic below...
