Sorry Kim, those curtains just don't go, I agree with Sian Sampey her curtains would look better as is her idea of the ceiling fan with a light (not shown in the pic). You need to add some colour to this room, perhaps some animal print cushions mixed with lighter plain cushions. Your artwork on both walls is just a little too high, art should be hung 1500-1600mm from the floor to the center of the artwork. Hope you get the look you are after, good luck.

Hi, White tiles do look the best at the start but will look the dirtiest the quickest. If you are still keen on going white there's two things that will help it look the best. 1. is have a pattern in the tiles. If you go for a white that has no pattern at all it will show every mark, even a slight pattern will make any dirt seem a feature not stand out like a sore thumb. The other is seal the grout with a product called Sureseal which i have linked to this post. If you do want to put the doors in where the oven is can you not just flip the L shape? So you have a breakfast bar running between the kitchen and dining? Might make your dining much smaller but you'll have the added eating space at the bench. Alternatively, take out the living room wall (to the hallway), close off the doorway into the kitchen and have a galley style kitchen (that's a much bigger job!). Tricky one! Ask everyone that comes to your house what they think - we did this and although we ended up working it out ourselves it was useful to go through all the wild and crazy ideas everyone had.

Hi, I think a gallery wall would look great here. To start with you could try a console table - which is basically a long skinny table situated on the wall behind the dining table if there is room to get by. They are normally about 40cm wide. Above the console table you would add an artwork or two. Perhaps a lamp on the console table, some nice books and a vase. I like to put open baskets under console tables to pad them out. Its also a good spot for newspapers, shoes, magazines etc. Then just keep adding artworks to the wall as you collect them over time. You can even use a mixture of family photos, mirrors, kids framed art from school looks great too. Check out these attached photos for some ideas. Good Luck, Jodie
