yep, stunning. I been drawing something similar for a while and it's awesome to see your ab fab results after your OP. I got interested in some ikea solid timber benchtops, not nearly as nice as yours, and thought I'd combo them with black cabinets, white stone and white walls (just a "what if" design). so I totally love your kitchen. it's great how well the tiles look now compared to when you first posted, they really excite me! and the lightshades against the black wall. and what's that dining area I see? that smoked glass table top with timber trestles and black chairs and that black and white rug? where you get those?! I want to see more! congratulations, it's hard not to gush! big ups to Mldesign too.

You have done extremely well! I think the couches and white rectangular coffee table are great. The things that worry me are the 2 small round tables, the 2 occasional chairs you have now, (though I can see they are lovely chairs, but at different heights and styles that causes a distraction), plus the nest of tables as they don't go with you lovely rectangular coffee table between the couches and the placement of them. I feel there maybe just too many small tables in that immediate area. Looking at the style of the nest and the taller round table, maybe if you stripped back the tops of the nest of tables and painted the legs white so that they match up the other round table they would work together, but remove the small round cane table in the background. I do like the taller occasional chair more than the low one and would try to find one similar. The low chair might be good in a bedroom. To have a higher back chair especially as we get older can be a good thing for guests that drop in and when you are needing to get up and down quickly as the hostess, (good for our backs and our take off). I think introducing cane though it is light weight and that is a good thing, might just be adding too many textures if you want a calm plantation style room. It would have to be a fine cane, maybe featuring the wove rattan sides. Taking another look at the chairs they are both nice chairs but I think you need 2 of the same style. I like the fabric that features the muted lime and black and linen look in the cushions, just that small use of it as a complementary fabric is great. I am wondering if you are able to raise up the palm so it is higher, and used as a more decorative element. I am wondering where your couches came from and the mirror too, if you can remember. Julie I love that tan lounge. The only reason I’m thinking of changing my sofa is because we are thinking of putting a mirror tv where the mirror is and starting to use it as a nice family room. The current sofa isn’t that comfortable. So a new sofa is on the cards! Now you know I want to start with a blank canvas do you think I should introduce the tan leather or get a fabric grey sofa instead? And does the sofa colour affect the final colour of dining chairs?? Hi CP and thank you! Your comment and suggestion is not controversial at all, but raises interesting design points. They are not shutters, but timber louvres. They can be raised and lowered as 1/2 panels- 2 per each window. When they are “open” it’s straight out to the deck and the elements. IE no glass Windows behind- just screens to keep out the insects. As the home is in the tropics, and currently it’s steaming hot and the humidity level is sky high too- in order to keep the room fully Air Conditioned (for now) it’s necessary to keep the louvres fully closed. So- it’s “either/or” with this window style, as they are not “traditional” windows. That’s why there is the glass door to the balcony and the skylights in the ceiling- to let in natural light in the summer steamy season. The only months we don’t need A/C are winter months here, which is June- September aprox. In those months when excessive heat has gone, I can open everything and there is a beautiful view out to the tropical rainforest vegetation and trees. Then, it indeed looks as though there are no window “treatments” as I can raise all the louvres. I once (years ago) got a quote to put in more normal windows, but the cost was exorbitant and besides, I felt it was ultimately the wrong thing to do as it would take away the unique character of this pole house. Tomorrow when it’s light, I can post some photos of all the louvres raised just to give you an idea.
