Comments (15)Hi Gioenne. Not really. We purchased "advanced" Lilly Pillies for along the back of the fence. They're about the same height as the fence (1.8m). We've also been keeping the interior blinds partially lowered / closed. At the moment, we don't have any outdoor furniture so privacy while relaxing or entertaining outside hasn't been a big problem. Once we have purchased some outdoor furniture we'll re-evaluate the situation depending upon how much the Lilly Pillies have grown. With all of the other "new home" expenses, we'll probably just entertain in full view of our neighbours!...See MoreNeed help with my luxury holiday rentals floor plan!
Comments (56)Oh wow you have been busy! It's funny, I was at my Mum's today and we were discussing your plans. We decided the bunk room was a bit small and she suggested moving it back like you have done. Agree the fireplace will be be better on the western wall, with flow from the kitchen to the backyard with large doors. I'm torn about whether the changes to make the mudroom bigger are changing too much what I loved about the previous iteration, i.e. the void and the toilet placement. Although my hubbie wasn't sure about the toilet where it was previously as he was worried sound would carry into the lounge I never thought of that to be honest and really liked how it entered from under the stairs ♀️ No views to the south so no need for the window seat, would prefer the void I think and no need for bath downstairs. Which version do you think works better? Perhaps the mudroom was big enough? I did like the extra room off it for storage etc Thanks so much for the renders, I'm a bit concerned that it now doesn't look like my original picture. I'm really trying to keep the look as American as possible with the pitch of the veranda and the pitch of the roof. This style has been my dream and is really so much a part of my vision. I don't want something that looks similar to other houses. Sorry if this seems silly. My builder did mention about the gas bottles and how they need to see their truck. Good idea between the carports. I wonder if it's cost prohibitive to have them buried at the front? Can I ask what the total sqm is for both upstairs and down?...See MoreHelp! Comments (9)Hi Helena, some possibilities - outdoor sheer curtains, blinds or bring the seating forward and have a moveable fold up partition screen between seating and balustrade. Is it worth waiting for spring/summer to see if remaining trees regrow their leaves, providing enough privacy before making any changes? With regard to tables height, they are usually within a standard range, so you are unlikely to find one lower unless you have custom made - if you do, the issue then is that the chairs on the other side will be too high with not enough leg room. If you sink too much into the sofa cushion, then consider firmer foam and maybe thicker bench cushion. All the best, Louise - Decoro Custom Interiors...See MoreGarden help- hide my fence!
Comments (9)In Brisbane too. Murraya is a trooper as a hedge. Keeps its foliage all the way down the plant and doesn’t get leggy if correctly cut. Keep it very slightly wider at the base than the top for best result. Enjoys some regular water for dark green leaves. May have weed potential near bushland. The viburnum is great too but ours have been plagued by wooly aphids or similar in the last couple of years in our garden, after many years of happy growth. It has tall new growth to four metres plus. Some years it has been entirely stripped by possums, but it bounced back. I don’t like the smell of the plant much either, but it is very tough. Larger leaves mean a power hedge clipper chops the leaves about, so you do need to be a bit careful to avoid a messy look. The trachleospermum jasmine is vigorous and needs frequent clipping, great as a hedge or ground cover but also keeps its leaves on its lower levels, so isn’t leggy if there is reasonable light. Long new growth is currently growing about 20 cm a week! Best of luck....See Moremutcherson
