Frameless shower screens
Comments (4)When we bought our place we swapped to a frameless shower to open up the bathroom and get something that we could "live with" until we could do a major reno - what we found was because the shower area was very small (under standard spec) and had a pretty crappy fall to drain, so depending upon who used it we got a little water spread or a lot of water coming out. Check the fall of your floor to the drain and install a low flow shower head. Also check where the shower head is pointing during your shower - angle it away from the screen door - sounds obvious but because there is a small gap between the stable screen and the door if your shower is hitting that (either directly or with run off from your body - elbows out when you're washing your hair for example) that water will run straight outside. Good luck....See MoreAre windows in shower area feasible to give more light to ensuite.
Comments (26)Thanks once again oklouise for your comments. I have already been told by the draughtsman that I cannot put in skylights. No idea if this is true but he seemed quite sure and it was he who 'designed' the layout of said ensuite with what I consider a too small window because of ease of plumbing and drainage. He says that can be changed...............Supposedly only put like that to get the oversize plan in fir consent. This department is only interested in the outside view and the effect on the neighbours, which I actually dont have any. The positioning of the ensuite and WiR has changed too from the first plan as I had to come 'out' of my bedroom into a corridor past the WiR door and then into the ensuite. Technically they were both in my bedroom as had not entered the hallway but did not seem like it. So the wall you have now suggested for the door is a small lobby to the bedroom and I had planned to put furniture on it and a full length mirror. I will now look again at the whole space with three zones to see what can be done. I used the word solar tube as I thought that was the generic name for the 'tube' installed which reflected light into a room. Do they cause draughts? Have had no experience of them but will probably want to install one in my scullery (or Butler's kitchen) but am going to work in it a few months before deciding that. I am really quite a novice about function of installations and of building code....See MoreShower Water Bar
Comments (13)I like the look of the strip grate in dreamer's second photo but I stayed in a hotel with a really good size shower and a grate similar to that (my dream shower I thought on seeing it) and I was surprised at how much water escaped anyway. Might it have been the pattern of the grate or too small an outlet slowing the water flow? What sorts of things do you have to pay attention to to ensure they work as effectively as they look like they ought?...See MoreIn desperate need of help to fix our ugly beige house!
Comments (24)That’s pretty much the height we were looking at going for so it’s an obvious step up and matches with the front door height. Good point about the front door we will probably install new crimsafe so you won’t be able to see any of the wood at all. Yes landscaping is the biggest thing we need but we are so clueless we just shoved plants in but it clearly didn’t work lol We will be planting along the driveway and putting in lights along it as well and there is a (very messy) hedge hiding the concrete in front of the door- which looks even worse right now because there’s marks from the hail. Our biggest problem is we live on rock and it’s such a steep incline so everything we plant grows weird or not at all I would love a beautiful lush front garden:( Is there anything we can do to the concrete to make it look nicer? If it’s painted with some kind of textured paint would that be too slippery?...See MoreSussie
