Two-pack finish, laminate or vinyl wrap?
Comments (10)It's a tough question that you pose and one we get asked on a daily basis. If you're simply after a flat door (no profile shaping on the front) then you really can't go past laminate. The machine technology available these days is very good, in fact we have recently purchased one of the best edging machines in the industry and will start using it in the next few weeks. It uses a laser to seal the edges so that you almost can't see the glue line at all! This machine is new to the industry and we will be one of the first companies in Victoria to get one. Samples aren't available yet but our showrooms are otherwise well equipped to show different finishes. I would avoid gloss and matt if you're worried about scratches and showing up finger marks. A semi-gloss (for example Laminex Silk finish) is a great in between finish that is very user friendly. All the best!...See MoreWhite Interior Colour-Help
Comments (11)Hi annabelle630, Congratulations on designing your new kitchen! You mentioned Caesarstone Statuario Nuvo may be throwing off a deep white (almost blue) colour compared to Quantam Statuario. Maybe, consider these two colours also: Statuario Maximus (much whiter, deeper veins) http://caesarstone.com.au/colour/5031-statuario-maximus Calacatta Nuvo (much whiter, lighter veins) http://caesarstone.com.au/colour/5131-calacatta-nuvo Any questions please don't hesitate to reach out! Comments (30)Thanks everyone for all your feedback and tips. Below is the plan I have come up with. Not sure how clearly it will show up. Have wrestled with the position of the ovens and sink - thought about swapping them and about having them centred but then think there would be too far between fridge and cooktop/ovens. Cooktop is 600m gas, then two below bench 600mm electric ovens, 900mm rangehood. Sink is double drain, double sink (1550mm in all). I know this seems excessive and against trend but I could not live without my double drain as always defrosting meat, bottles of milk etc and like to have one clean side and one dirty side of the sink. I love the idea of a bi-fold door appliance cupboard for toaster, kettle, microwave but not sure how practical it really is. Will the doors when open be painful and stick out near the fridge???? Do like the idea of having all that stuff tucked away though. What do you think of dishwasher position? Think I will make that gap between island and bench with dishwasher 1300mm as suggested. The only drawers I'm planning on having are a bank of 3 x 3 800mm in the island. I know that are more economical space wise but trying to keep costs down. Should add that behind the L-shaped benches will be windows as much as possible. Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks greatly....See MoreKitchen cabinetry advice please
Comments (25)I went through that last year. And, whatever you end up using, the Ikea kitchen planner is a great help in working through choices, layout etc. I can recommend IKEA cupboards, which I got in two colours (antique white and a light ash) - and their installation is even cheaper if you put the cupboards together yourself (even doing the frames for a carpenter is well worth it). The drawers and drawers inside drawers are excellent. I also had to use Kaboodle from Bunnings, as I wanted a corner pantry - it's a system that's also worth considering - my pantry is well made and goes well with the other cupboards. I didn't use IKea for benchtops and splashbacks, as my carpenter had a supplier from whom he could stuff wholesale, which cut costs as well. Twelve months on, I'm still very happy with the kitchen, the quality of cupboards etc....See MorePazz
