scottevie, unfortunately the whole setup is out of alignment. The cupboards are not centered to the front of the bench which is itself not centered to the window quick is itself not centered on the wall. The center of the cupboards is very close to the center of the windows but just slightly off. The tap will not be in the centre of two bowls because the bowls are of different size. I like your idea of centering the sink using the tap though.

I have the Blanco Clarion sink with drainer tray. I had it overmounted and I absolutely love it! I’ve had this sink for 2.5 years now. It’s so easy to wipe down and keep clean. No mouldy edges because it is so flush against my wooden bench top. I am renovating my kitchen later this year. I plan to keep my Blanco sink overmounted over my new stone bench top as it will also help to prevent the stone edges from chipping around the sink, a problem you may encounter if you undermount the sink instead. It still looks great overmounted too. I imagine you could still use this sink with laminate bench tops if you overmount the sink because my plumber had put a stack load of silicone all along the perimeter of the flat edge of the sink where it sits on top of the bench top. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and my sink gets a real workout. My sink was costly (costs a lot more than standard sinks) but I’ve never regretted spending that money.

Tap on bench or on sink. Taps should not be on a laminate or wooden bench as water can seep into bench over time. But not really a prob with ceaserstone. Big taps can cause flex in sinks so can be better fixed on a bench, although a good quality sink should provide enough strength around tap hole. Unless you have an undermount sink on bench can be harder to clear up any water spills and mess around a bench tap as you have to get over the sink lip. In terms of splashback, tiles can add texture. You haven’t said what style door but if just flat I would go tiles. Glass is tempting as no grout to clean. Colour needs to work with your other colours and hard to do from screen pics as colours vary.

Hi Vicki, I would like to put if my two pennies worth too, please: And go back a step..... The scullery: you have a sink and dishwasher in there? If so why not have the 1 1/2 sink and drainer in there. On the island have just a little sink for rinsing veg, filling kettle, topping up saucepan, rocks for the scotch water supply but with no drainer in the island? Then the major dirties will go straight to the scullery and island sink is for smaller usage. And I would put it not right at the end maybe but towards the dining end to allow the longest usable bench for prep. The design of the scullery does not seem quite right to me. There is a dead corner: yes I know that is one of my pet hates. But also is this going to be a pantry for store of foods and or do you envisage using it with appliances on the benches? If it is either of these do you want to dirties mixed with the food prep and store? Solution: have two benches facing each other. the one backing bedroom(?) use for sink, DW and second 'frige. Separate. The other for appliances on bench and food store above and below. I would incorporate the pantry cupboard into pantry room bringing the door along to the front of the main fridge. Then put the oven tower next in the kitchen: it is in a safer place and close by to mix master (on bench in pantry) for slipping a cake into! The high things are then altogether and the bench will slip down to the day bed being a more relaxed aesthetic. I know I hear it you want the cook top centred to look lovely! Possible you still can do that but as long as there is at least 1200 benching beside it for a USEFUl piece of bench. Yes as someone earlier said you can use an under mount sink and have grooves in stone for drainer but I wonder about the cleanliness of the hidden seal. The stone will chip on the edges of the sink, the outer edges of the island and all benching if the boyz are not careful: a school ruler or wooded spoon handy for clumsiness might be a good disincentive for rushing!!
