Would love some help with my living room - small beach house
Comments (7)I recently decorated our beach condo on a budget. Items to consider are bowls or clear glass vases with found shells displayed. Sisal rug and woven baskets make a coastal feel. The baskets are great for storage as well. I used white light and linen drapes found at ikea.Because of small size of room, i have glass tables to help maximze space. I am adding shutters found at a flea market as headboard for guest bedroom this year. I found many useful items from community sales. I frequent local beach decor shops some pricey to get ideas for arranging and adding items. I would put couch so can look out window to garden. Put it floating in the center of the room, Tv on wall. Two chairs sort of where they are now in photo. Small table and chairs located near door and kitchen. Looks like not much space there but look at ikea furniture as it is for small spaces. One ikea table is shown to be against wall and then pulls out to enlarge, it might work for you....See MoreDesign Help- Small Lounge/Living Area
Comments (3)Beige/ivory and porcelain/light blue tones work well with light grey as they are neutral. Lighter, neutral tones can create an impression of a larger space. Since you have a small space, you would want to make the space appear bigger than it actually is, and not smaller. You can use accent pieces with standout or brighter colours like cushions, lamp shades/bases to liven up the space against these neutral backdrops. Pottery Barn has some really nice neutral light blue/ivory rugs, you might want to check that out, for example: http://www.potterybarn.com.au/hayden-zig-zag-rug-porcelain-blue http://www.potterybarn.com.au/desa-rug-blue All the best....See MoreLiving room design help!
Comments (18)Hi Greer, I am liking the suggestions of plants and hanging photos / frames. If you wanted to get some matching furniture you can use our website to create custom matching tables including perhaps a coffee table with some matching end / lamp tables and a matching sideboard / console. This would really tie everything together with a big rug and you can get them to fit your proportions as you can select the exact size and 40 top colours. http://tableanddesk.com.au/End-Table...See MoreHelp with designing my living room (with pics)
Comments (14)In your post you said you were after a provincial look. You could bring in some accent chairs in that style and use throws and cushions in the blue from rug and the red also, to bring together. This is colours as Julie suggested. Visit your local second hand furniture store, they may have furniture pieces you can start with. I find sometimes rooms come together better over time. You will see things that are your style, and this will add to the room. Don't think you have to 'finish' the room straight away. And I agree with other post. Paint is an inexpensive way to change a room....See MoreAuthentic Artworks - Jana McLeod
