Start building something
Start screaming

All of the above
Something else (put it in the comments)

What do you wish you knew before moving into your current home?
Comments (62)@Karen Hodge, I hear you!! Sometimes I think the estate agent should carry quite a bit of the blame actually. If they do their job correctly like you see in the adds on TV, they should bring these discrepancies to the attention of the sellers, stand on their morals and say if you can't get it better than this, then you'll have to find someone else to sell your home!! I know you can't make everybody "house proud" but the saying "do unto others" springs to mind. I bet if these same people bought a house not up to scratch, "a current affair" would hear about it but they don't think it wrong to simply walk out on a house that isn't being left nicely for the next family!! I have some friends that recently sold a house in Essendon, Melb and whilst the buyers were back and forth selling their own home, my friends kept watering the plants and even did things like painted out the wardrobes because of the scuff marks made over time!! They cleaned the entire two storey house from top to bottom and finished by mopping the floors as they were exiting. The buyers were so taken by the entire home, they bought it with almost all the furniture that my friends had in it!!...See MoreWhat does/n't your partner do that drives you nuts?

I go into work after hours as I get more done only when he's not around ..when he's around he causes havoc a squeeze here a fondle there..thank goodness we haven't had to have the security camera tapes reviewed lol even when his staff is around he'd pull me in between the shelves then poke his head out to see if anyone is watching lol or worse still into the back of the shop close the door and monitor his staff from the computer screen lol I can't win.. at night I can't sleep as I'd get into bed fall asleep and he'd fiddle with me any hours of the night.. if I fall asleep after he does I can't sleep as he snores.. result is me walking around like a zombie hehehe his sisters and nieces thinks I'm lucky as he adores me..there are days I just want to find him a second wife so he can annoy her half the week lol so now I'm half the week away..so for three nights I get proper sleep..can't function without sleep I'll crash .....See MoreDo you think it's okay to do the main bathroom in Matte tiles and the
Comments (17)Are we just talking wall tiles here? What are you looking at for floor tiles? I'm thinking in terms of mixing gloss and matte in both rooms to tie them together and keep your customer happy but giving each bathroom its own character without being too different ................ if that makes sense....See MoreDual-living proposed extension – what do you think of this plan?
Comments (94)Hi oklouise, thank you again so much for your suggestions to help me reflect on my choices! The great thing about this whole process is that it has really helped me clarify my must haves/dealbreakers and nice to haves. Key elements that I don't want to forego are: 1) a "master suite" with large WIR + private ensuite+ direct private garden access/views. The current northern bedrooms are elevated and do not allow these elements and better suited to small kids as no external doors and can be eyeballed from the kitchen. 2)The kitchen must be the heart of the home and connected to all living spaces so the host never feels disconnected from guests & can watch kids from almost any living space.I attended a party last weekend which had the kitchen blocking the living room from the outdoor space and the host commented they regretted it after renovating. 3)The dining room must be an end destination vs a corridor so it does not become a dumping grounds for bags, mail & everything else as the nearest flat surface to the entry point. 4) All new bedrooms must also be min 3 -3.2M wide on the narrowest side for me to justify them. 5) I reviewed all my lookbooks and tear sheets pulled to date and its a clear pattern that I want my 'adult' living and dining/entertaining spaces connected to the rear garden preferably wrapping l-shape round a deck or courtyard garden. In a sense 'broken' vs open plan but still visible through glass etc. 6) I would not be prepared sacrifice the prime N/NE aspect with utility rooms. 7) I don't wish to place a verandah at the front as it will never be used except extra maintenance and can create shading in summer via other methods. 8) capacity to rent out room with private living quarters. There are many splitter blocks in my area and I don't need it to operate as legal dual occupancy. 9) single level living -no second story bedrooms etc. 10) separation of main bedrooms when renting out section of house Phew....I think thats most of the checklist criteria I have been working to. Still think tanking the street appeal/front facade style but its probably leaning toward lux byron bay beach cottage meets modern coastal with some retro elements to hint at the history of this 1950s house!...See MoreLouieT
