Ideas for our bedroom
Comments (10)The look that I think you already have is old Hollywood glam, and it's beautiful! The look is enhanced by the framed black and white print (Audrey Hepburn?). Try a row of smaller prints on the large wall to the right of the bed, in the same theme. Then add a touch of luxury with some lustrous silver / grey drapes. I think that the hanging lamps cast a beautiful soft light that would be lost with the addition of wallpaper. Agree with the suggestion of adding mirrors behind the pedestals to make them visually bigger. Try to find some with bevelled edges for that extra touch of class. I think that the room needs a small touch of soft colour - a pale shade of teal, grape or fuchsia would work. Take your chosen colour a shade darker for an accent wall behind the bed if you're into drama. Add a flowering orchid to each pedestal, a candle or two or maybe some antique silver ware and it's lights, camera, action ......See MoreBedroom at back of house or not? study or ensuite conversion?
Comments (24)Do you have any other access to the backyard? Lane at the rear etc? If not... I like your plans but I wonder if you will miss the access down the driveway. Possibly a problem should you sell later on, or should you need to bring large amounts of materials etc into the rear yard. I'd think about using the front of the house for all the bedrooms. Possibly the sun starved middle room for the master suite. Extending it though to the room you have marked as pantry. I can't see the dimensions, so I hope it's big enough. And use all the rear space, minus the bump out, as living. You could maybe pull the kitchen into the centre, looking out to the yard, pantry + laundry behind it against the for mentioned bedroom. Splitting the living area up a little. And giving you much more living space....See MorePOLL: Technology in the bedroom, yes or no?
Comments (17)No, no, no and no in that order! I refuse to have any technology in my place of slumber. Hell's bells and cockle shells, is no place ever without something flashing bright lights in my face? One must let ones brain tune out such monstrosities of 'gadgets' and entertainment so as to slip into a princess sleep of wonderment. In other words, I shall not take into my budoir anything which is distracting for me to nod off. That includes men....it's a story....another time........See MoreMaster bedroom/ensuite/WIR floor plan help!
Comments (14)One question i have with your design Oklouise is whether the sloped ceiling will look odd in bed 2? The house is an old queenslander and bed 2 was originally the lounge room, with two sets of french doors opening on to an enclosed veranda. We are opening up the front veranda but not the side one (because that would limit the floor space we have available to build in downstairs). The "reading/playroom" was kept separate to the bedroom because that space has a steep sloped ceiling and a set of french doors opening on to it so we thought it looked like a separate space. If we remove the french doors and knock down the wall, do you think the bedroom will feel strange? We would like to keep the set of french doors opening on to the verandah at the front of the room....See Morecarthiefintexas
