Paint the wooden furniture white, paint the metal bed frame a bright color, like the color of the throw on your bed. Hang the mirror across from the bed sideways on the wall instead on sitting it on the dresser. Get a blank canvas and use the paint you'll use on the bed frame and the wooden pieces to draw eccentrically circles, add a 2nd color, such as purple or fuchsia to the piece. You can add accessories from colors 1 & 2, and glass and silver accessories around. as for you "reading lamp" hang it lower on the bed turned up to add interest to your new art piece. Shift to reading from a lamp that is glass or silver on the small nightstand.

Dear Marisa, Sorry to break the news to you, but your room is a "train wreck". Just TOO Many competing elements in this room. The last thing that this room needs is "Wall-Art"! This is a BEDROOM and a place that should be restful. All the elements in the room make for a vision of chaos. Firstly, move the TV opposite the bed. If you have room, house your TV, your music system and Apple TV box in the one area . Paint the unit the same colour as the walls. TV housed behind a door would be good. Blue and green or aqua and turquoise are shades are all serene colours, for walls and furniture both. All photos and mementos can be put in an album, thus clearing surfaces and resulting in a memory book to peruse at leisure. If you are a child of 8 to 9, the dolls, toys, cushion and a disney picture above the bed are okay, but not for a teenager or adult. Why do you need the refrigerator? Is it because you cannot eat and drink elsewhere? Best sleep comes when in a dedicated room. Separate eating, drinking, computer and TV from sleeping if at all possible. If, however, this room is a bed-sit, then you are stuck with multiple uses for this room. But I notice that there is no dedicated study/desk area. If you moved the white cupboard covered in unnecessary photographs, there would be space for a small bedside table with a reading lamp. Reading a book, for pleasure, before sleep, is conducive to good restorative sleep. My advice is, ditch the disney paraphernalia, put the caps in a drawer and generally de-clutter (surely you do not need toothpicks in your bedroom?) I suggest that you study photos of ELEGANT bedrooms - not fluro adolescent fantisies but classic, serene examples. Photos on Houzz are good, as are, photos on Etsy and Pinterest. Type in a query on Google images e.g. aqua bedroom images. Keep an open mind when looking. Consider painting the whole room. Consider placing pillows the whole width of the bed head, with pillowcases in shades of one colour. Behind the bed, install a curtain rail with a generous curtain of beautiful fabric ( check out fabric remnants online, especially in USA or visit Burnt Street, Seaforth fabrics in Sydney. You can often pick up expensive, beautiful fabrics at a fraction of the retail cost. Get ideas from Elle decor magazine, Architectural Digest and Verandah magazines online. I would add more white to your bedding, white euros, white throw, fold cover to add a chunkier look, blue and white artwork you can make yourself by buying same frames and copying similar blue prints , adding white adds a softer look a few ideas

Sandy - given the width of your bed, I worry the size artwork you have chosen may look out of proportion when hung i.e. too small against your bed. My vote would be for the 140x100. If your bed is 193 wide, 75% of that width is approximately 144 so that size artwork has the potential to look the best :) The 140x100 size still allows 26.5cm of negative space on either side of your artwork to the sides of your bed with the ability to position your artwork well given the height you are working with.
