Hello Northstar 1 thing to remember when choosing your lights .If you want the light down choose a down facing lampholder, dont drop them to low as the GLARE from the globes in your eyes every time they are on is annoying as, every lit pendant you showed had an incandescent globe so if your going to use Fluro globes they will look worse.LED globes with a cleeear glass would be best. Avoid carbon filament even though they look great its a low light output. Depending on your budget take a look at Mondoluce on line they have some amazing glass pendants from Italy and in multiple sizes.

Personally I would go with a fan because in summer when the mozzies or the flies are out having a fan on is useful for comfort. A light will just draw mosquitos in. If you want a nice hanging feature you can always suspend an object D'Art in a corner out there to give the same impression. Or you can screen your alfresco area in and enjoy a pendant light. I have the same thing on my house a beautiful alfresco area that I've decided to screen in for several reasons, one being the insects. Nothing worse than being eaten alive during a dinner party and needing to move the party indoors as a result.

I like option 1 too, if you are worried about them not being big enough, can you find something like that, but that is bigger than the 16cm? Also, you could go three, I'm posting our former kitchen reno for you, the bench length is 1600 and our pendants were probably around a similar diameter, possibly slighly bigger, and given how heavy ours were in comparison to what you have chosen I definitely think you could get away with three if you liked the look better.

I think the light suits the design , and agree that 2 would look better -- the problem you have now though is that , even if you connect the wiring together for both lights ( so the existing wiring is all that is needed ) , is that you will need 2 new holes in the ceiling ( that top fitting covers them ) BUT you will end up with a hole where the existing wire comes through . On a new build , if you fill it , or even cut out a larger square and get a whole new cut-to-size panel in there and plaster and paint , its possible you'll see the different paint colours , and possibly the filler shrinks or gets a little dimple . Its do-able , but its time consuming ( $$$ ) to get it correct now . In other words , it will be at least in the $100's , so how much do you want 2 lights ?
